Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

Incredibly brought him outside yesterday to just sit on my lap in the sun and he started running up and down my arm and my leg. I had to go inside and get a big beach towel so he could move around and run a little bit. I had to keep catching him because he wanted to go off the towel and I don’t...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

He never black beards. I am seeing improvements each day. The morning after I got him home, he voluntarily ate a live dubia. I’ve been hydrating him and sliding his greens/veg into his mouth. He’s been cooperative. This morning he voluntarily ate a nice size piece of shredded butternut squash...

    Almost silly question....

When something really bothers me that Mr. Rex does, I just make the change because otherwise it’s going to continue to bother me. Just gently pick him up put a soft towel underneath him and be done with it. He’ll be fine if he still tired he’ll go back to sleep. It’s not going to mess him up.

He never black beards anymore Tracie. It’s unusual, when he was rehomed to us, he occasionally did if he was irritated. In general, he’s truly a sweet soul, but like if he saw the groundhog outside from the window, he would get a black beard and bob his head. The summer before he had a URI and...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

Day 1 post surgery picked him up after overnight. He is doing well and alert. He was very alert when I picked him up and actually climbing out of the carrier onto my arm when he heard my voice. So they have not seen signs of movement or feeling with the leg yet. They’re saying that the femoral...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

I have surgery scheduled for Tuesday. It’s not going to get better unless this is cyst-like formation is removed. The exotic vet has express instructions to keep limb intact unless it is attached to bone.

No other swollen areas. They used cephalosporin based broad spectrum antibiotic which seemed reasonable to me. Remind me what your thoughts were around AZT. I’m open to anything. I’m kind of baffled too. Lab report showed a bunch of nothing but a hot inflamed area. Something is walled off and...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

Long discussion with vet yesterday. Nothing definitive as you can see by the attachments she still thinks it could be a 50-50 that it’s a malignant lesion but my gut tells me we would’ve seen some malignant cells in aspirate. She said if they did surgery, she’s not sure based on the location...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

He is motoring around as he needs to…limited because it’s uncomfortable, but he does move himself from basking to cool area. Site looks clean and unremarkable. No change. Exotic vet did a good job. They are literally a dedicated exotic avian and reptile vet she was trained at Tufts… good...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

She did FNA aspirate from two different areas on leg. Still waiting on results she really thinks this is not gout based on the location of the large fixed lump on the thigh, but we will see. He’s actually eating when I offer greens and veg. It’s just hard for him to get around, I can see it’s...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

Yes probiotics but no change in leg/foot swelling. Asked vet for estimate for just FNA w/o CT scan to try to get answer. Perhaps lab report would show if crystallization or other presentation. It’s just 😭😭😭 this guy has ideal setup & husbandry. His appetite sucks I’m slightly force feed...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

No, change really. I continue with injectable Ceftiofur antibiotic once a week and NSAID for pain and inflammation every 48 hours. I was really hoping to see some improvement by now. It’s very frustrating and distressing. he is eating within encouragement and I make sure I hydrate him each day...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

Probably I am going to hold off on CT and hope we see results soon. Based on his husbandry and diet and lab results and appearance/location neither I nor the exotic vets think this is gout. Just hoping we see a resolve it’s always so hard to be patient with anything like this but I know how slow...

Bearded dragon 1 rear leg/foot edema (swelling

He seems to be feeling more comfortable with Ketofen for pain and swelling. Ceftiofur antibiotic hoping that it is cellulitis or other localized infection. I think putting more weight on leg bc balance is better. It’s definitely not worse and now it’s Monday. The first injection for ketofen and...
