Thank you for letting me know about the heat! I’ll adjust the lamp tomorrow. I might have guessed it a little high for the post, so I’ll double check when the lights are back on in the morning. There is no screen on the tank— we don’t have any other pets so there’s no worry about anything...
Hey all,
I’m thinking my 1 year old male bearded dragon Toast is starting his first brumation. He has many signs of it, but there are a few behavioral things that I’m still a bit confused about so some insight and opinions would be very appreciated!
Information about his husbandry:
Tank - 40...
Yes, he definitely prefers carrots and squash whenever I add those. I think the consistency relies a lot on how many bugs I’m feeding him per week? I’ve noticed it’s a lot more runny the weeks I don’t feed him as many. I’ve been trying to cut back a bit since he’s going to be a year old next...
Hi,
For the past couple of weeks we've noticed that Toast's (10 month old male) stools are coming out very runny, with hardly any solid logs formed. It's just mush, and his urates are tinted orange. Up until a couple of months ago he primarily ate crickets, while eating a few leaves out of the...
An older picture of baby Toast asleep on his fake plant. We had gotten him a few weeks prior and he never touched the thing, so when I saw him up on it one day after getting home I was shocked! He stayed on it for a few hours until his lights went off and fell asleep right there.
While I’m at it, does anyone recommend any sort of multivitamin or D3 supplement? I’ve had him on his calcium powder without D3 all his life but the vet suggested D3 once every couple weeks and a multivitamin as well.
Thank you a lot for your reply— that’s relieving. The occasional walking on his wrists is a newer development, but if you think he looks good I’ll just keep up with the calcium and keep an eye on it.
Thank you Karrie!! I’ll see about the thermometer and move his heat light a little higher. I caught his wrist in an awkward position a bit ago while he was eating, I’ll attach a picture.
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great New Years.
A while back I posted a lot about my baby dragon, Toast. Just wanted to start by saying eating is no longer the slightest issue for him and thank you all for the help. It was likely just relocation stress that lasted longer than expected.

But if I may pose another question / concern, It‘s a bit difficult for me to tell but I think he has a little bit of stuck shed on his fingers and toes. I know it’s common for it to get stuck there, but I’ve given him several warm soaks and gently brushed them with a q tip and tooth brush but...
Hey guys! Sorry for the late reply. Been very busy with tests and law school applications. Toast (his name, I don’t think I’ve ever dropped it) is doing very well! As I mentioned last time, he was finally shedding and since my last post he’s shed again. He’s gone from 7 grams to almost 25 today...
Hey all, I‘ve got an update!
Very happy to share that he finally shed a few days ago. We were very worried about him since he hadn’t after over a month of having him. He’s also slowly gaining weight.
He’s still completely disinterested in insects and greens though. We are still feeding him an...
Good news! I figured out a better way to mount the heat lamp so the screen is gone for now. Picture attached. Bad news is the light adjustment doesn’t seem to have done anything for his appetite.
The vet prescribed us a dewormer so as to “grasp at straws”. I haven’t started him on it yet...
