    Feeding questions for new baby

To clarify, you're suggesting the hood/fixture is fine, but to get a different bulb. If that's the case, I can do that once the bulb that came with this fixture expires.

    Feeding questions for new baby

I understand these might not be the best options, but for my current budget (as a retired school teacher), it's what I'm going with. :) I realize that some people will argue and possibly criticize my choices, but I can't worry too much about that.

    Feeding questions for new baby

Thanks again. My 4'x2'x2' PVC enclosure has been ordered (but not delivered). I plan on having a dome lamp with a 150w Halogen bulb in it. The dome lamp is a Fluker's DIMMABLE lamp so I can adjust the amount of light/heat. I also ordered a ReptiZoo T5 HO with a 10.0 UVB lamp (24") I also...

    Feeding questions for new baby

Thank you, SO MUCH for this detailed help, KarrieRee! :) I see you fed them in the morning. Do I need to feed babies a bit more frequently when they are young?

    Feeding questions for new baby

Hello all! I am still doing research on when I get a new baby (from a breeder). I'm just so torn and confused about which insects to get for him. 1. I'm leaning towards Dubia roaches, but to be as cost-efficient on shipping (from sites such as Dubiaroaches.com), how many do I get and how...

    Two lighting questions please :)

150 watts would be too much? But the CHE I bought was 150! Even at that, the temperature near Sam's basking area is only 90 degrees. :( Wouldn't 75 watts be cooler and so the temperature wouldn't be 100 degrees (like it should be?) Am I not understanding? Or do I leave the CHE on IN addition...

    Crickets in refrigerator?

Thanks for responding, Monk. :) Yes, this morning I put them in the fridge before I showered, dressed, etc. By the time I was done with that, they were pretty much dormant. I then just grabbed a couple and placed them, along with Sam in a smaller container. Sam ate up three of them! :) Tried...

    Two lighting questions please :)

And a follow-up question: I couldn't find a 150w heat lamp at Lowe's. I found at 100w and a 250w. I did find a 150w "garage light" and it would work, but I'm wondering if it has to be "cone-shaped" or could ANY 150 watt light provide enough heat during the day? Thanks. :)

    Two lighting questions please :)

Oops! I just realized you replied again before I asked my question, Cat. LOL! Thank you! :) Hmm... I don't think the hood will allow six inches, unless I get another climbing structure near it. Here's a picture of my current set-up: and a close-up To the far left is his/her "basking"...

    Two lighting questions please :)

Hi Jess and thank you for chiming in here! :) Well, I found a CHE at PetSmart and wanted to get Sam away from the red light (the associate at PetSmart mentioned how the red light was causing her beardie to be aggressive!). I do have a question about the ReptiSun 10: I found ReptiSun 10, but...

    Two lighting questions please :)

Thank you for the photos, Cat. :) I did see a ReptiSun 10 at Petco, but it wasn't a long tube... it was the light to fit in the incandescent fixture. :( I may have to find something online. Your set-up is great, but I don't have the room to do something like that. I was hoping to have it set...

    Two lighting questions please :)

Hi Cat! The fact that you responded is a huge help and very much appreciated. :) A couple of follow-up questions, please: 1. If I use a regular household bulb, what wattage is recommended? 2. I've seen ceramic heating bulbs! How difficult is it to link to a thermostat? Would I find a...

    .

I'm also interested in this subject. It says cricket feed OR corn meal. The way I read that is that I could just use corn meal. Is this the corn meal that can be found in regular grocery stores or is it something special? Also, they say to feed the worms 1:1 (1/4" worms = 1/4" mash) Would I...

    Two lighting questions please :)

Hello all, I'm a very new beardie owner (new as in a few hours!) I was told by a Petco associate who seemed to know her stuff (and very friendly) that the following lights are good: ZooMed Nocturnal Infrared Heat Lamp - Can keep on 24/7 and won't effect the sleep patterns. However, I read in...

    Crickets in refrigerator?

Hi all, I'm completely new to BDs (that's going to be my first sentence here for a LONG while I think! LOL). I'm wondering if there is any danger or problem with refrigerating the crickets (even 20 minutes prior to feeding)? It seems like they'd be easier to feed. I placed them in the fridge...

Hehe, thanks! :) I wish I had the confidence to know if mine was Samuel or Samantha. ;)

    Introducing Ted and Sam :)

Hello all, Well, I have a new roommate and his/her name is Sam. That could be Samantha or Samuel, depending on what sex he/she is. ;) I was told by the person at Petco that once Sam is older, it will be easier to "sex" him/her. :) Anyway, here's a photo of my buddy: Sam is quite adorable...
