I did try the hotter basking spot but he doesn't like it that hot, so I lowered it. I think he is 18months old.

    black area

It wouldn't wash off at all. I don't have substrate. This was my brothers son's beardie that I confiscated last week. He had no uvb and they hardly ever fed him. They joked about should call me so I could come feed him. I didn't think it was funny at all. Since I've had him he has fattened up...

    black area

Hi, I took my brothers beardie as I felt he was not caring for him at all. Mind you we are both adults. I just couldn't stand by anymore. He is in terrible shape. MBD bad. I saw this black area near his pores. I tried to do a search but all that came up was alot of black beardings and basking...

My superworm breeding kit Pic Heavy!

Hi mommy, I just wanted to ease your mind a bit. I use one of the bin type whatchamajiggers, never had a problem with escapes. The beetles are pretty harmless, fairly slow and can't climb well. Their feet are kinda sticky and won't just fall of your hand if you shake it real hard. My brave son...

My superworm breeding kit Pic Heavy!

That I don't know. I keep all my babies together. I pick out grown ones and put in another container. I didn't do anything special with the eggs, I don't know what you could do as I can't see them. You'll figure out what is best for you as you go along. I may be wrong but I think the baby worms...

My superworm breeding kit Pic Heavy!

Yes.I have 1 beetle container, well sort of 2, 1 for now and 1 for later. After about 3 weeks I remove all the beetles to a fresh container and dump all the substrate from the one I just took them out of into my worm bin. Then I put new substrate into that bin, ready for the next time.

Yes, that's what I use because the fruit and veggies dry up so quick at my house.

My superworm breeding kit Pic Heavy!

Yes the wings being split is normal...2 wings. Are you sure they don't look eaten? I can't tell for sure but the pic on the right looks like it's tail end is not all there. Other possibilities are not enough to drink as in water crystals or fresh carrots or apples. Another reason, mold. If you...

My superworm breeding kit Pic Heavy!

Take a close look at your beetles. Do you see any parts of them missing? Look especially at the back end under their wings. If it looks like they have been eaten on I would say you have some baby worms in the bedding. How long have you been working on this? We'll see if we can't figure this out.

My superworm breeding kit Pic Heavy!

I don't know why he does this, but my take on it is being able to get another beetle going quicker than you could if you waited for the first pupae to go beetle. I save all my pupa's together so I can get more pupa's quicker. I don't save them in a drawer since I'm full up with worms. But...

    Hello, I'm auntie/caretaker

I have since found out that meal worms are bad, and thanks for that advice. I had to buy something as pet store was out of crickets for several days. My brother didn't seem concerned about feeding the little guy...hence I jumped in. can't stand the aloof approach to parenthood, whatever kind of...

    Hello, I'm auntie/caretaker

well actually I don't know anything about keeping crickets as my nephew dumped the whole lot shortly after getting home from buying them. Although the roaming ones are alive and quite well. I did have a lid with food in it for them and a few were still in the cage. Oh and I didn't put them in...

    Hello, I'm auntie/caretaker

hello, my nephew got a beardie for his 8th birthday. He named him Sparky Mable D.J. Webb. Interesting. Well we all have been learning as much as we can on how to properly care for the little guy. I have to say that I love him like he were my own! I never really understood why people went GAGA...
