I’m a newbie to reptiles and here with my new buddy Sushi! Any advice appreciated! ♥️

That sounds like very normal beardie behavior to me, based on my research and limited experience (I'm not quite an expert since Freddy is my first beardie but I've been dedicated to learning beardie behavior over these last 2.5 years, as it sounds like you are doing now!) From juvenile to now...

I’m a newbie to reptiles and here with my new buddy Sushi! Any advice appreciated! ♥️

Generally, yes. From my experience (and I know all beardies are different), Freddy is rarely running around the tank or glass surfing; instead, he mostly chills in a spot he likes the best that day. Is 98-105 the basking spot? Is this preferred spot in the basking area or the cool side? Is she...

What a cutie! When we first got Freddy we also had eating issues and we were so worried, but Freddy finally came around on his own time and now eats the bowl clean every day! But those first two weeks to a month were an absolute stress. My best advice is consistency and patience; if the vet says...

What do you typically feed your dragon?

Hey all - I know very well the list of acceptable fruits/veg/bugs that beardies can eat, but I'm curious as to exactly what you all feed your beardies every day (and how much) so I can compare. Give me some examples of what a typical day looks like for your beardie, food-wise! :D

4 month brumation: Eaten very little, still hasn't pooped.

He doesn't sit up on the rock much anymore now that he is larger. But when he stands on top of his cave, he is about 7-8 inches from the UVB (the cave is a little more toward the middle now), but I agree that we should have more for him to stand up on over there. Will brainstorm!

4 month brumation: Eaten very little, still hasn't pooped.

Houston, we have a poop!! After feeding the mashed sweet potato + a little olive oil, Freddy became repulsed by the scent of oil. We couldn't find anything prune-related, but we tried other high fiber fruits like grapes and pear. Today (after chilling in the hammock the last few days), Freddy...

Thank you!! <3 I agree! Unfortunately it hasn't been great outdoor weather lately. Low 40s :?

4 month brumation: Eaten very little, still hasn't pooped.

That's funny you say that, because we've had such trouble determining Freddy's sex -- there's not really that one bump in the middle but there also aren't two bumps on the sides! We settled on "lack of bump in middle = boy" but we definitely could do another check. Also, we haven't checked since...

4 month brumation: Eaten very little, still hasn't pooped.

Thank you guys so much for the replies. We are worried about our little guy. If we do end up taking him to the vet, I will keep in mind not to let a vet give him an enema. Last night and this morning, I tried feeding him mashed sweet potato with a little olive oil. He didn't take it -- he...

4 month brumation: Eaten very little, still hasn't pooped.

Hey Karrie, thanks for replying so quickly! I think his lighting should be good because I checked this forum and got some great responses from you and others back when I was getting him all set up. He's got a T5 HO 10.0 UVB bulb that goes across 3/4 of the mesh top. His basking bulb is a 100W...

4 month brumation: Eaten very little, still hasn't pooped.

This past January, Freddy went into a full brumation at only 7 months old! It started around January 15; he went into his cave and he slept for 2 months straight! Never came out of his cave once! We checked on him to make sure he was alive but otherwise left him alone and let him sleep. Two...

Baby/juvenile beardie still doesn't like being handled

I just want to hear from other beardie owners how you got your beardies to get comfortable with you and enjoy being handled. Mine isn't there yet. We've had our baby beardie for 6 weeks now and I think he is otherwise very healthy. He eats well, he is growing like a weed, his...

    How does this viv look?

LOL! and I might have to get a bigger t-rex when Freddy outgrows this one! I think he jumps from item to item in there, although it's hard for me to actually catch him in action (he still stops whatever he's doing and stares at me whenever I come in the room). I try to keep the log close...
