Does Shed Ease work?

So I've recently been looking into products to help my beardie shed. Does shed ease work? The directions say to mix 10ml per 16oz of water, but what happens if you use more than that? Is it going to hurt him if it's too highly concentrated or will it just penetrate easier? Also could i mix it in a spray bottle for misting him with? If anyone has used this or a similar product I would very much like your feedback. Reviews on Amazon are too back and forth so not really trustworthy. If you have any recommendations for shedding products that would be great

Oh ok I have the Zilla and only used it once or twice. Tbh I used a lil more than recommended. But to me this zoo med brand is better.

Having been bred in captivity for generations, bearded dragons have developed a predisposition towards illnesses and conditions that their wild counterparts don't generally have. For instance, blocked femoral pores(not that my Bell has an issue with that) are more prevalent in captive beardies. Proper husbandry alone can not guarantee that our dragons won't have issues that sometimes need remedying.

I wish that when I got my beardie that I had known more about them. I got him at petsmart and let's be honest pet stores like that don't usually know what they are doing when it comes to bearded dragons and often give out unreliable information. Now when I go to petsmart I can't stand how they keep their dragons.

In 20 years of breeding and keeping dragons, and in the years I've been part of this site, I've never seen a dragon that was cared for properly develop a true case of stuck shed that had to be assisted with.

Plenty of owners who think they needed to help with the shedding, and plenty of owners who thought their dragons had stuck shed because the patch had been there for a few weeks, but never a true issue with a dragon physically not being able to shed properly without human intervention (silkbacks are a different story, and are a good example of what you were trying to get at with genetics differing from their wild counterparts).

I am promising you right now, with 100% certainty, even with a dragon you bought from PetSmart, that if you house your dragon properly and feed him properly, you will have to do absolutely nothing to assist your dragon with shedding.

Will you using the product hurt your dragon? No probably not. Is it needed? No. If you feel more comfortable using it, feel free. But it's not necessary.

Very true. My main concern regarding stuck shed was that he had a scale on his tail that was hanging partially off for over a week. It was a very thick scale. Thicker than any he has shed before. At first I thought it was a full healthy scale that he was loosing but I could see the replacement underneath it. It was also very tender for him. If I accidentally touched it while handling him or if he brushed it against something he would flick his tail.

I know right I feel the same way. I could’ve saved soo much had they advised of the correct thing out of the gate. The store I went to said BD were harder to keep and tried to talk my husband and I into a gecko. But let me be there when someone is buying one or things for a bd. I’ll quickly say that’s not right.
