Rescuing Simon

Simon is a much lighter color today! Not sure what this means but it seems like he has less stress marks. He finally started pooping (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and a little bit this friday morning mostly liquid though). Seems like he is still getting everything out from when he had no basking light before. He will be seeing the vet on Monday.

LOTS of glass surfing lately but it seems related to pooping.

Just wanted to post some photos of his color change today, his tail again, and some of his poops.

His tail still looks concerning to me, especially with the rest of him being lighter now, the tail is very dark.
Tail is shed - no enemas at the vet-- take a fecal w/ you-- they are to risky -- please keep us posted

In the 1st pic it looks like the tail closer to the base is going to shed, that being said its absolutely normal for the last half to be dark like that. Over all simon is a good looking dragon. The poops do look iffie but he may just need time to recover from his previous neglect. Im sure simon is a very happy and grateful dragon now!

Wow! Another poop! That’s 5 poops in 5 days after at least 2 weeks of constipation. When I first got him I noticed that he had a big belly. So sad. They were feeding him but he didn’t have a basking lamp so he couldn’t digest it.

The first poop this morning (basically just water) had a piece of cricket in it, so he is still digesting food from just over 2 weeks ago! The watery part of his poop is pretty dark brown which I’m not used to. Definitely going to collect a sample soon to bring in on Monday.

I’m thinking he could have died from the impaction of all that food. His basking lamp had been broken for at least a month. So glad I got him <3

The watery brown poo can be normal, it looks worse on a solid flooring like that. He must feel much better now that his plumbing is working. :) You're doing a great job with him !
Sometimes it's good to wait a while for the first vet visit when the beardie is doing so well, it gives them time to really get used to their new life and good diet before they are potentially put on a dewormer. Hopefully Simon is given a clean bill of health and your vet is knowledgeable and honest. Beware of a " vitamin or calcium " shot , these are almost never needed when the dragon is obviously looking better. Those shots can be stressful , cause irritation and be an extra cost for nothing.
His tail is still iffy looking, probably not developing tail rot but definitely watch it.

2 more poops this morning, it’s exhausting cleaning up so much poop but I’m sure he’s exhausted of pooping so much. Second “poop” today was nothing I’ve seen before. Almost completely water with the tiniest bit of urinate. And pretty clear. I haven’t been giving him that much water, none by syringe recently, just some blueberry treats.

How often does he drink and how many blueberries and other veg/fruit does he eat ? Some dragons do pass more water.

I gave him maybe 5-6 blueberries while he was roaming a couple days ago. He doesn’t drink in his own, I syringe fed him some water maybe a week ago.

How will the vet determine if it is tail rot or not? Looking at some old photos it does look like the darkness has gotten higher on his tail. The reason that the dark part doesn’t look like she’s it because it doesn’t end abruptly. Here are some more photos.

It only looks darker now because the rest of his body has lightened.

One more tail photo. The progression of the darkness is kind of “speckled.” Little spots of dark going up the tail.

If its tail rot it will be necrotic, otherwise its going to be shed or something

Sometimes tail rot is developing under the scales before it all gets the brittle look. Try very gently squeezing the tail from the " good " area down to the dark area to see if it feels squishy down there. Remember, just do so gently.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
