Help! Larger is my girl, smaller is the boy I got 2 ish months ago. He was bigger than her when we got him. We were told he was going into brumation and because we are newbies didn't realize that was untrue for about 3 weeks he barely ate, slept all day and then was rapidly loosing weight so we took him to the vet realizing he likely had a parasite. He has pinworms. We gave the first dose (4 days) and then waited the ten days and have started the second dose and have one day left of the second dose. But he still won't eat. I syringe feed him daily, cut up bugs, greens and Pangea. I bath him every other day and most of the time he actively drinks water. But he won't eat very much and if I give him more he pukes. And he's lethargic. Always sleeping, eyes always squinted, won't eat and even fights the syringe. Is this typical for pinworms even after this long and almost done the meds? We were told by vet to keep them together was fine. They are rankins so very similar to bearded but they can Cohab. Both dragons have been getting the meds due to them living together.

Hello,

Sorry your boy is having trouble with pinworms! Is he taking the Panacur to help with that?
Yes, they should be fine to be housed together. The Rankins are different & smaller than the conventional
Pogona vitticeps or bearded dragons.
That isn't usually normal for them to have trouble with a simple deworming, no. Are you giving a probiotic
for him to help settle his tummy? A couple of good ones are a non dairy acidophiliz or a non dairy organic
soy yogurt, plain or unflavored.

Thank you. We haven't been giving him a probiotic. We will look into this. Is there anything else we can do? He absolutely won't eat and I'm just not sure how long he's going to last with force feeding as he will only take a little bit at a time and it's really just barely sustaining him. Thanks for your time . He has pinworms for sure the vet tested and the final dose of the second set of antibiotics was given today.

Hello,

You can try using a few drops of blackstrap or regular molasses to help with appetite boosting.
Bee pollen is also a good supplement for helping with appetite stimulation too.
What is the dose he is being given? Do you know the strength of the Panacur by chance? I
can double check his dose if you need.

Let us know how he is doing.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
