    Superworms

I feed my adult bearded dragon superworms as a staple, and occasionally dust them with calcium and vitamins. In my opinion, experience and research it's not a problem for large bearded dragons. The intestinal tract is bigger and superworms are more digestible than some think. I offer a variety...

    uvb exposure

I would keep the reflector. As mentioned, as long as your beardie can get farther away than 12" and/or has some shaded areas, your setup sounds pretty ideal IMO.

    Need help with backdrop

I received my new background and can now, in good conscience, recommend petbackdrops.com. The background is printed on a thick and durable vinyl "canvas" that will not tear and should hold up very well. The print is of good quality and is accurately represented on their website. I think my BD...

Setting up for metabolic bone disease

Tommy is lucky you found him. At least he's not deaf, dumb and blind.

Setting up for metabolic bone disease

Wow, sounds like he's lucky to be alive. I'm surprised he survived the cold temperatures there, in addition to the abuse. It's 35° and snowing here in Colorado. In a couple hours he would be a beardie-cicle.

Setting up for metabolic bone disease

That's good news. Reptiles are extremely resilient creatures with a strong ability to survive difficult circumstances. There's a reason many reptiles have been around for so long relatively unchanged. I'm just curious... Where do you live that a bearded dragon was found alive on train tracks? :?

Setting up for metabolic bone disease

My pleasure. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people on this site. Maybe search the Health forum for more info on MBD. Or start a new thread asking for info on MBD. Someone might be able to help you gain more information on how to best help your beardie. Did your vet give an...

Setting up for metabolic bone disease

I don't have the knowledge to answer your questions about MBD and recovery. I defer to your vet and the more knowledgeable people here. Reptisun T5 10.0: https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-26061-Reptisun-Fluorescent/dp/B00AQU8HAO Reptisun T5 fixture...

Setting up for metabolic bone disease

Most times a tank of at least 40G would be advised. But I'm not going to second guess a vet, maybe he/she doesn't want the BD to run around too much because of its issues. Maybe you could use a 40G breeder and section it off, or provide some hides and cover to help the beardie feel more...

    Is My Enclosure all Wrong?

A T8 10.0 should probably go inside and very close to the BD. A T5 10.0 would work on top of screen as long as the BD can get +/-10" from the bulb. The T5 10.0 is probably the UVB bulb of choice for many here. You should try to get the UVB and basking light as close as possible so while basking...

    Is My Enclosure all Wrong?

The new enclosure is a great size, nice and roomy. I would not use sand as the substrate in the new enclosure and all lights should be directly overhead, not on any of the walls. The UVB light might, or might not, need a reflector depending on if it is inside, outside, through screen etc...

New outdoor enclosure and lighting help needed

My $0.02 I also built an outdoor enclosure for my beardie. I basically converted a 4'x8' raised vegetable garden by putting a hinged screen top over it. We've had it for a couple of years and I feel that our beardie is still not very comfortable in it. He seems to be scared and constantly looks...

Three years and thousands of members, no worries. I'm just happy I found this thread and got the UVI data I was looking for a few years ago.
