Human Cruelty - How SA pet shops kill reptiles

I forgot to mention something very important: I brought the bearded dragon home to die with dignity. I am shaming the pet shop in our local news papers and all SA forums, I also reported them to our SPCA who are working together with my vet to prosecute them. I do not fall for pet shop neglect...

Human Cruelty - How SA pet shops kill reptiles

On the 30th of March I went to Snakes n More to pick up rats, I usually just go in and get what I want and get out without looking inside the cages. However on this particular day it was very busy and I had to wait for service which prompted me to look at the cages directly next to me. Stuck in...

    Beardies dirty, wet and naughty!

"Animals of all kinds, from rats to humans, that are brought up and live in an enriched environment are healthier, more intelligent, more creative, more adaptable and generally better off than those subjected to less optima conditions. Scientific experiments have proven that enriched...

    Experienced brumaters!

I'm sorry, I hope they will be better soon. The weather affects my dragons because they have to stay inside the house on rainy days - they HATE being inside. :x

    Iguana training

Thanks. We had the outdoor cage at our previous house and it took 3 weeks to build there. When we moved we took it with us and it took 2 weekends to put up at the new house. It needs constant maintenance because of weathering thou. The room took a full month to paint and put the...

    Beardies dirty, wet and naughty!

Thanks all! Dragons are just so adorably cute it is impossible to not share them. If you do get a pool then only fill it with a little bit of water so they dont have to float. The most important thing is too put sprinklers on so that it seems as if it is raining. The moment that I...

    Iguana training

All who are owned by an iguana will know just how much effort went into this training. It is almost a year now that Forest roams free in our garden and I have to say that I am incredibly proud of him! We have huge trees and I am still shocked that his instinct has not got the better of him YET...

I think you will enjoy this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xkf5SIDZeTo A bit more info about the part where they are sitting on camping chairs, basking in the bushveld. We have a house next to Kruger National Park and EVERY predator that you can imagine are there. I move the camping chairs...

Iguana Room, Tunnel, Outdoor cage COMPLETED!

After 2 years I can finally say that we are finished and that I am happy in showing Forest's completed setup. I mostly waited for his plants to grow - very hard seeing that they are under iguana attack every single day, he does not eat them, no he just walks all over it! :shock...

    Hi from South Africa

I am really sorry to hear about Oz, I dont know what to say... It really hurts so much, something that people just dont understand. Dragons are awesome healers, they give sooooooo much love, I know that your dragon will never fill Oz's shoes but he can bring comfort.

    Hi from South Africa

Thank you for your warm welcome! Forest stayed in season for a whole 8 months! He was bleeding so bad that he became anaemic and I took him to 4 different vets - nobody could help me. This meant that I had to take drastic measures, I kept him with me and pushed silk linen in between...

    Experienced brumaters!

I am from Gauteng and I've had my dragons for 6 years now. Not one of them has ever gone into brumation but the weather definitely affects them.
