    Mist the salad when it starts withering. My dragon likes her protein for breakfast and lunch (she's still a baby) but only nibbles her salad until later in the day. I mist it at least twice to keep it moist and make sure she's getting hydrated.

    This is exactly why dubias are illegal in Florida. The can infest very easily and thrive in our climate. Discoids, however, cannot. They need a tropical climate and most of Florida is subtropical, so they wouldn’t survive our winters. They also can’t fly.

    Thank you so much for your reply!!! So, not to be a pain, but are you saying that I need calcium even though the BSFL are high in calcium and the crickets are gut loaded with calcium? Are you also saying he needs D3 even though he's getting excellent UVB lighting? And finally, should we not...

    I think the ones I got are from a dollar store or something. It's a set and the largest one would fit over the top of a coffee mug. I've had them for ages, but this is the first time I've used them.

    Jumping into this thread to ask for a bit of elaboration on vitamin and calcium dusting. I buy crickets about once a week. They are fed a high calcium cricket food and I dust them with Herptivite with beta carotene when I get them home. Do I need to repeat the dusting during the week as well...

    Any tips for feeding BSFL.

    I have a small strainer that has holes large enough for the substrate to pass through but not the BSFL. I scoop out a bit with a spoon and sift the substrate back into the container. I pull out any stray substrate or molt with my tweezers and dump the clean BSFL into the bowl. Works a charm...
