Thank you so much everyone. I surprised myself with how emotional this has made me, they really are incredible animals.

    How to keep dragons hydrated?

Hi everyone, thank you so much for the replies. It turns out my dragon was suffering with premature egg rotting in her ovaries. Apparently this is a thing can happen even to healthy females as they get older. The ovaries were leaching fluid into her abdominal cavity causing damage to her...

    How to keep dragons hydrated?

Hi all. My female bearded dragon has gone through 2 episodes of dehydration. Wrinkled skin, sullen eyes and lethargy. Both times we went to the vet who administered fluid injections which got her healthier but I don't want this to keep happening so how do you keep your dragon hydrated? We've...

    Deep water in Beardie Enclosure?

You've convinced me, housing a bearded dragon in there is a bad idea. I'm just worried that a baby EWD will be at high risk of impaction if kept in a planted terrarium. Any tips on how to minimize that risk? Should I add river stones to the soil to make catching live food easier?

    Deep water in Beardie Enclosure?

I've built this large 6ft x 3ft enclosure for an Australian Water Dragon with a large 3ft pond in it. The pond is pretty deep but that is perfect for an Aussie Water Dragon. Its also a planted enclosure with soil, ferns and draceana. I don't want to house the AWD in the enclosure until it is...

    Eye Infection? (Updated w/ pics)

Q-tip or wet tissues works well. Your beardie probably won't like it but it's better than being half blind. My beardie has had this discharge problem for years. From what I can tell, it isn't an infection, but it could be different in your case. Remove the goop and see if it comes back. If it...

    One-Eyed Bearded Dragon

Hi! I can't believe I've finally found someone with the same problem I have! My 14 year old beardie Crunch has had this problem to an extent in BOTH eyes for about 4 years, although it is worse in one eye than the other. In a worst case scenario the boogers harden into a glue that seals her...

Would Tank Be Big Enough For An Adult?

    HOLY CRAP that's a big beardie. I built a 3.5ft x 2ft x 2ft viv for my 18" girl.

How often does your beardie poop?

Generally daily, although sometimes she stops pooing for 3 days and then does a massive one.

    URGENT PLZ HELP!

See if you can return it, it's not worth the risk. I use the exo-terra 10.0 tube and I've never smelt burning. As a side note, I always keep a smoke detector on the roof of my enclosure. It's better to be safe then sorry when dealing with hot electrics.

    Basking Temperatures

I finished building a custom wooden enclosure two weeks ago and my dragon is settling in nicely. I decided on a new tank partially because I could install 2 ceramic light fixtures which would allow a CHE and a basking bulb. The previous tank only had 1 fixture which meant I couldn't have a...

    Type of Sand/Substrate to use?

If you're set on getting him a particulate substrate I would wait until he's fully grown. Bigger dragons aren't at as high a risk of impaction as little dragons. I wouldn't go with straight sand as it gets dusty and requires a lot of maintenance. Go with a substrate which sticks together to form...

Live Plants in a Dragon Setup?

Why might I want to keep a soil/sand box separate from my tank? Its just that my girl likes to dig herself a sleeping spot before going to sleep. Could I use soil/sand as my whole tank substrate without going for a bio-active setup?

Live Plants in a Dragon Setup?

Ok, so I’m hearing plants are generally not a good idea as they could harbour bacteria and will probably just get trampled anyway. Would fake plants be an option? I’m just worried my dragon might try to eat them. I live in Australia so my beardie’s genetics are probably stronger but I hear your...

Live Plants in a Dragon Setup?

I'm almost through completing my scratch-built wooden tank for my adult bearded dragon. I'm trying lots of new things with this setup and I'm wondering about adding live-edible plants. I originally held her in sand substrate but I moved to paper towel after it got a bit dusty inside. The paper...
