For the dubia know it alls!

Anyone have a good suggestion on a roach barrier for their bin? Currently using Vaseline, but it seems the smaller nymphs can get through it no problem. Haven't had any escapees, but it's a matter of time. Especially since my colony (140 females, 30 males) has exploded in the last three...

    Can dubias eat beardie bites?

My dubias go NUTS over this: http://www.petco.com/product/112373/Rep-Cal-Maintenance-Formula-Bearded-Dragon-Food.aspx They'll eat it in full light! They'll clean out a 6oz container in 24-36 hours. Regardless of how much roach chow is in their food dish.

He's chasing my other pets! Now with video!

Mine does the same to my girlfriend's black/white cat. Charges full speed just to try to taste the cat. It's certainly weird, and her cat (at least) is terrified of the little lizard.

Zoo Med 100 watt Powersun UVB bulbs

I believe that's one of the more reputable mercury vapor bulbs. I haven't personally used one, but I've used the Exo Terra Solar-Glo for heat/basking in a yellow belly slider setup and shes doing great. (Growing like a weed compared to the separate heat and uvb tube setup for her before) I've...

    Exo Terra

Your link didn't copy correctly, but I assume it's this one? http://www.avifauna.dk/reptiland-terrarie-45cm-76424-p-15071.html Looks fantastic to me! Little longer than a 40 gallon breeder, and a fair bit wider too. I'd say it's a good choice. Infact, that's a roughly 70 gallon tank for about...

    Are Exo-Terra Cages worth it?

I know last weekend Petco was doing $1 per gallon. Aqueon 40 gallon breeder + a mesh top (petco brand, folds) is a pretty nice setup, currently using this exact setup for a red eared slider, have all the lights up front and can use the back folding half to open up to do quick spot cleans and...

    Ants in the tank

That is highly possible. You can cook the stones, 375*F should be fine for 20 mins. I'm unsure about the wood, but it can surely soak and air dry. I know you can microwave cork pieces, I'd guess you could with the wood you picked up if they're small enough. I'd go with air dry though.

    Ants in the tank

I'm unsure on if they're edible and or/safe for beardies or not, but I'd assume it's not good. They've likely found a sweet food source that wasn't cleaned up, give it a good cleaning with a slightly diluted vinegar/water mix (3/4th cup vinegar to 1 cup water). Not only will this help clean, and...

    Exo Terra

The DIY ones made with foam and grout should be able to withstand the heat, but don't quote me on that. The easiest route is to simply have the basking spot towards the front doors so that no lamps are above the Styrofoam background. I've had mine melt with a 150 watt bulb in a wide dome, after...

    Exo Terra

I can vouch that it's a great viv! 18" is more than high enough for sure Just be cautious with the styrofoam background and heat lamps, there's a chance it can cause it to melt.

Help me convince my mom to let me start a dubia colony!!!!!!

Hey there, you've already listed a lot of good reasons why they're better than crickets. The biggest is the fact money would be saved (in the long run) by not buying crickets AND not using gas to go to the pet store. However, you'll need more than nymphs to get the colony going. I started with...

    Apples?

As long as it's peeled and you dice it to chunks small enough to fit between his/her eyes. Apples can be fed occasionally according to the Beautiful Dragons nutrition page. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html

    This is getting RIDICULOUS!

Fixture size does equal bulb size. His hood fixture is definitely 20" long. I have a similar fixture, fits 18" T8 tubes, but the physical length of the hood is 20". The BIGGEST thing to look for is WATTAGE. You don't want to put a higher wattage tube into a lower wattage fixture or the...

Who has an Exo-Terra terraruim or knows them? I Need advice!

I can't help with the 8.5" domes much, I used to have a 150 watt bulb on a dimmer but swapped it out for a 75 watt, raised the basking spot up, and used a 6" dome. CountofCasualty is absolutely right about the foam background melting. I had a portion of mine melt from the 150 watt, seems fine...
