    Upgrading York's viv

I just finish reading the full instruction. Definitely need to make a false bottom. For my hermit crab tank, I added a pvc pipe in one corner so I can siphon out excess water if I need to. I'll do the same for the bearded dragon. Thank you.

    Upgrading York's viv

I'm in that bioactive group. They also told me I didn't need the fir bark because it would turn to soil anyway. For drainage, I could make a false bottom, I had to do that in my hermit crab tank. I have a ton of left over weed blocker. Is a drainage level really necessary though considering a...

    Upgrading York's viv

Haha good to know! No squishy plants. I wonder if agaves and haworthias would work. Why African nightcrawlers? Are they better for warmer, dryer substrate? What do you recommend for substrate? I'm thinking 3 layers. I'm putting Repti Bark at the bottom. The middle will be a combination of...

    Opinions on Substrate

I just took this picture a few days ago. Here are some of the options. TOP LEFT: ceramic tiles - I keep all my leopard geckos in this set up because it holds heat from UTH very well - My leopard geckos are potty trained to poop in plastic dishes in a corner so I only have to deep clean their...

    Opinions on Substrate

Pretty bare. Just a rock and a glass dish. The shelf liner is from Bed Bath and Beyond. It's pretty, but poop will leave stains. This is an old picture. I switched the bottom piece to something slicker from the Dollar Store. Easy for you, but not ideal for your animals really. There's nothing...

    Opinions on Substrate

I find tiles to be messy with bearded dragons. They tend to poop wherever they feel like. Then walk and smear it around sometimes. With tiles, you have a lot more pieces you need to clean. I have been using no stick shelf liners for a few years now. I just wipe the poop. If it's really messy, I...

    Upgrading York's viv

I love your tank! How is it going after a couple of months? Are the isopods and springtails still alive? What's your humidity level?

    Dubia dinner

They are glass food containers. Came with red lids. Any supermarkets should have them. My beardies poop in the bowls, too.

    roaches?

They can't escape. Dubias can't climb. Males have wings, but they can't fly. Here is a nutrition chart comparing a few feeder insects. http://www.theroachguy.com/new_page_1.htm

    Dubia dinner

Here's a video of my 2 beardies eating dubias. The glass bowls are where they usually poop as well. http://youtu.be/KQNw8NqUqtQ

Going away on trip what to do with beardie

They can easily go a few days without any insects. I don't feed insects to mine everyday anyway. Just feed him plenty before you leave and leave a big salad bowl. You also don't need to worry about water. Just give him a bath the day before so he can drink.

I Think I May Need To Rehome My Dragons :(

I work 2 jobs and I'm only home 4 days a week. My mom does help when I'm not home, but she doesn't really have to. Salad - It takes 5 seconds to get a leaf of collard green from the fridge and shred it in a bowl in the morning. You could even do it every other day if you put the bowl on the...

    What to feed Dubia Roaches?

You don't need to mist them. Don't do it because you may actually be doing more harm than good. It will encourage mold to grow, which will kill your dubia. I actually leave the lid of my bin open so it gets plenty of ventilation. I lost a colony once due to mold.

    Just ordered Dubias! Enclosure help?

I use a big reptile heat pad underneath my plastic bin. The pad is glued on one of those metal grill for putting a hot pan on (2 for $1 at dollar store). You can sandwich the heat pad between the 2 grills then sit the bin on the whole thing. The heat pad doesn't touch the floor or the bin and...
