I didn't take offense if that's what you mean. All suggestions are appreciated.

SketchUp > new topper for cage

The cage is 3/4" maple. The top will be 3/4" birch. Trim is all aspen. I was thinking the 4x10 side vents should be plenty.

SketchUp > new topper for cage

The uvb light is a 36" reptisun mounted behind the face frame of the tank. There are 2 recessed lighting fixtures flush mounted in the top of the cage that will be hidden by the tank topper. The entire cage and topper is made out of Maple, Aspen, and Birch. With the Pine only being support...

SketchUp > new topper for cage

I use Google SketchUp to design, it's a free program that is pretty simple to use once you get the hang of the mechanics. I got caught up in wedding planning the past few weeks so I haven't bought the materials yet :( I'm hoping to start on it in the next couple weeks. On a side note: we've...

    White beardie breeder?

I'm going to be in the market for a new family addition in a couple months (gotta finish the cage first). I really like the white beardies, be it a leucistic, hypo, or snow. Does anyone have any recommendations for breeders of these types?

    Wood questions?????

I like Birch or Poplar if you're going to stain. Maple if you're just going to seal. All 3 have a similar grain pattern and the first two are a bit cheaper than Maple. Also, I've found that Maple doesn't take stain quite as smoothly as Birch and Poplar. The reason I say Maple if you're going to...

Please post pics of your Roach enclosures!

Didn't see that thread. Thanks. I was hoping to get some posts of a bit more extreme cages as well though.

FYI I got a new sliding miter saw for Christmas and feel the need to build all of the sudden.

I've been thinking about going above and beyond the typical 16 gallon tote. Possibly made with melamine a false bottom with screen and removable poo catch under. The idea is to let their poo go through but not them. I have a spare mega-ray heat emitter sitting around so I figure I could mount...

SketchUp > new topper for cage

I got a new saw for Christmas. Now I have the building bug again. Here are the plans for my upcoming cage topper project. I plan to update this post as the project progresses. Feel free to offer any words of encouragement, advice, or questions. Material List: 1- 4x8 sheet of Birch Plywood...

    Very concerned about weight

I've decided to play it safe and schedule a vet exam. Gotta to wait 'til he has a bowel movement outside the bathtub for a fecal first though :)

    Very concerned about weight

He's 19 1/2" long Cage temp ranges from 70° on the cool side to 104° on his basking perch. I didn't track Brumation temps, but they could have been between 65-75 where he was sleeping. Maybe a bit cooler as it was winter in Minnesota and the house is a bit chilly. Temps are taken with an IR...

    Very concerned about weight

Jack is about 2 1/2 years old and has lost a lot of weight during his brumation. I can't remember his pre brumation weight, but he is now 318g. White he was brumating I had taken his UVB light fixture out to paint it and when I put it back in I had somehow put a normal bulb in (feel really bad)...
