Is she going into brumation? It’s June in NC.

Thanks Tracie!! Sorry to hijack the OP  The UV meter sounds like an investment for sure...maybe i'll just stick to making sure I replace the bulbs on a good schedule for now haha.

Is she going into brumation? It’s June in NC.

Hey guys! First time beardie owner here, I was wondering do you know at what age is it common for a beardie to undergo their first brumation and is there any way to check to see if your light is giving off adequate levels of UV? I have a 6 month old beardie who's fed twice daily greens (mustard...

Jeff bit off the end of his tail, help?!

Yea as soon as I noticed the weird scale pattern and the redness I knew something was going on, but I didn't expect him to do that! >.< Yes I got the honey and applied it last night after a quick betadine soak, and we're going to try and do that twice daily and keep his cage super clean. The...

Jeff bit off the end of his tail, help?!

So when we got Jeff two months ago, he had a small band of retained shed on the end of his tail. At first, I thought it was tail rot but after noticing that the very tip of his tail still had normal scale pattern and no part was dry, dead, or hard, I figured it was a retained shed constricting...

    Retained shed question/concern

Thanks for the response! How long does it typically take for a tail to start necrotizing? Isn't that the same as tail rot? We've had him for a month so I would have thought that if that was the case it would have started spreading up the tail, but I understand that it can get worse the longer...

    Retained shed question/concern

Hello all! I've had my beardie, Jeff, for exactly one month now. When I brought him home, he seemed to have a bit of damage or possibly a retained shed on his tail. I was monitoring it closely to make sure it wasn't tail rot, but I haven't seen any open wound so I'm sure it wasn't that. I'm now...

    Cleaning enclosure and feeder cage

I've seen a couple of people say they will clean their tank with a diluted vinegar/water mixture and 1/10th bleach mixture, but I was wondering are there any soaps out there that anyone recommends, especially for cleaning out kritter keepers and food dishes? I'm a pretty clean person and I just...

Into and potential tail rot question?!

Hey! So the bulb we have is an Exo Terra Solar Glo, which supposedly has UVA, UVB, visual light, and heat all in one. I've been reading more on different bulbs but some reviews I saw said this bulb would be sufficient. We try to keep the top off of the tank (with supervision so he doesn't jump...

Into and potential tail rot question?!

Hey CooperDragon! Thanks!! Yea he seems only a month or two old and was in the tank with a slightly larger dragon, so potentially from being housed there. :( Do you think the betadine and neosporin is helpful or useless since there doesn't seem to be an open wound? We're still watching it...
