We are newbies to bearded dragons

Glass surfing is normal in a new environment. I just moved my baby to a larger tank with a better setup, and she glass surfs any time she sees a reflection (only been in new home 1 day). For the feeding, I use an escape proof dish, and just put a few dubia roaches (mealworms will work too) in...

    Lighting Help for Newbies (:

There are 2 ways that you can go about it. You can have a "under the cabinet" fixture inside the tank using velcro, or command hooks, or you can use a Mercury Vapor bulb with a dome lamp. Due to the way your tank opens, I would use the first option. a 24" fixture will be fine if placed near the...

    Lighting Help for Newbies (:

optimal for the 160 Watt is 10-14 inches, but since it's on top of a screen, shouldn't it be a little closer?

Wanted to ask, is this bulb ok for beardies, or should I stick to a tube?

    Dubia recommendations

here's a link. It has the option to purchase basically a starter kit. Your best bet is to purchase the colony kit AND enough of the appropriate size nymph for your reptile, as it will take a few months for the colony to be self sufficient. If you need advice on setting up breeding them, let me...

    Quikrete on foam background question...

I used a clear Matte sealer, so the look of it is about the same. With the lighting, I'm trying to figure out how to set up the UVB and heating. It's a 36x18 tank, 24" tall, but with the height of the insert, the basking area is about 7-8 inches from the top. So it seems to me like I can't...

    Quikrete on foam background question...

I did 2 heavy coats, and let it dry for 2 days. After that, I did a good spray coating of acrylic cure and seal and let it set. Did a test with water droplets and a rub test, and so far it is sound. Now I just have to figure out wtf I'm doing with the lighting.

    Lighting advise for my tank

I would be going for a T5 or a 100W Power Sun. I just need something that is also going to leave room for a heating lamp. That's why I was looking at the Zilla Pro Sol, as it is all in one. I have 36 inches length to work with, but no idea how I'm going to set it up for proper UVB and heat at...

    Lighting advise for my tank

I have a 3ft x 18 inch tank, 2ft tall that I'm setting up for my beardie. I was looking at the 30 inch Zilla Pro Sol for lighting, but there are some bad reviews on it. Anyone have a good heat and UVB setup for a tank this size? basking platform is about 8-9 inches from the top of the tank.

    Substrate Advise.

Walnut shells are ditched, Using reptile carpet in the small tank while building the larger one. The large tank will use play sand / topsoil mix on top of polystyrene, with a middle feeding platform, and a 1ft high basking platform.

    Quikrete on foam background question...

So I've built the below enclosure insert using polystyrene foam, and using quikrete with liquid color. My question (or rather questions) are as follows: 1. How many layers of concrete should I add to the foam? 2. will the color rub off on my beardie if I don't use a sealant on the concrete?

    Substrate Advise.

I just got a juvenile Beardie (only 4-5" long). I made a mistake and got ground walnut shells as a substrate for it, and I'm looking to change it out before any damage is done. I used slate stone to cover most of the walnut shells, and will be feeding in a separate area to minimize risk for now...
