I’ve been meaning to post an update for a while now, just getting the time to sit and do it.
Both of my kids are doing fantastic! Ember is growing so fast. She’s now 233g and about 15” long. She’s really making up for lost time from when she didn’t eat for a good month while being treated for...
Yes, Kai has become very clingy! He loves being with me and HATES when I try to put him back in his cage. He doesn't want to be covered up with a blanket though. He doesn't like that at all.
Ember still loves being held, but since Kai moved in she seems a bit more nervous about being out and...
New pics of the kids.
Ember first! She’s too cute for her own good!
She finished shedding her back. Now we wait for her arms, legs, and head.
I think it may be time to start cutting back a bit on feeders. She’s starting to get a chubby belly!
Finally caught her waving at Kai...
What are your temps and what type of UVB lighting are you using? Sometimes if the temps are off or if the lighting isn't correct they can get stressed and want out. Or if they can see their reflection it can effect them. Or.... he could just be acting like a brat and wants to come out to play...
I tend to spoil mine... a lot! LOL I was ordering phoenix worms about every other week along with crickets in the beginning, but eventually switched to dubia. I'd also add in other types of worms to add variety. It was the shipping fees that killed me. You're paying $30 for food and another $20...
I have a male and a female pair. My female I've had since March of this year and she's still a juvie. My male is approximately 4 years old and I rescued him last month. On first sight he started head bobbing at Ember and she responded with waving. About a week later (now) he doesn't head bob *as...
I started with a baby and loved watching him grow, but even with all of my research I wasn't quite expecting how expensive they are. They eat a lot of feeders so you'll need to buy a lot. It's cheaper to buy in bulk, but it still adds up fast. Adults eat less feeders and more greens and are...
Ember’s shed is almost over. Yesterday her back really split up and started peeling off. Of course, now that that’s over I noticed her nose was starting to turn yesterday too so I’m expecting a head shed next.
Kai also appears to be getting ready to shed. The vet said with proper care and...
Thanks everyone! Kai is quite the character. He's sweet, but he can also be very feisty! His name which means spitfire definitely fits him. He makes me kind of sad at the same though. When I take him out to run around the room (a different room from Ember) it's like he doesn't know what to do...
Thanks everyone! Kai is definitely settling in quite nicely here. I'm not even two weeks into my "rescue", but it's already so rewarding. :)
So yesterday Ember had her first hornworms. She didn’t know what to think at first, but once she tried them she really liked them. I’m not sure if Kai’s...
So Kai had his second dose of panacur tonight. He’s so easy to give it to. I just have to gently rub the side of his mouth and he opens it right up. So simple!
I’ve only had him for a week as of yesterday and he’s already made huge progress in the right direction. He’s much calmer in his cage...
Just a quick update on Kai. He did test positive for pinworms so we'll be starting him on Panacur. He's much bigger than Ember was when she tested positive AND his levels are lower (she was 3+, he's 2+) so I'm hoping he'll rebound just fine. As for right now you would never know he has them...
