    1yo beardie still hates veg

Thanks for the advice. I'm having some luck getting sweet potato and apple into him, by cutting the slices like thin wedges so I can sorta 'post' them between his lips until he starts chewing. It's not yet voluntary on his part, and he still shakes me off after two slices or so, but in the end...

    1yo beardie still hates veg

I got Bandit in August 2017. He was sold too-young, around 8 weeks, and kept too close to a UV bulb so had keratitis (snow blindness). While semi-blind he stopped eating altogether, but I nursed him back into eating crickets and phoenix worms. He refused to eat greens and vegetables, however...

    Wide eyes, long-sighted?

The tank is 15 3/4" tall, and his basking spot is within the mandatory range of the unobstructed tube :)

    Wide eyes, long-sighted?

Ah yes, sorry, the bulb is indeed mounted inside the tank. It's a wooden tank, no mesh lid (save for the circle where the heat lamp sits). The UV fitting only supports T8 bulbs, to my knowledge, and I would literally have to take the entire tank apart to swap it for a new T5 fitting. Also I am...

    Wide eyes, long-sighted?

I use a long bulb, yes; T8 Zoo Med Reptisun 10.0 UVB. It was recommended to me on this forum :)

    Wide eyes, long-sighted?

Thanks for the reply :) I only ask because I've owned two beardies previously, and neither of them had depth perception quite as poor as Bandit. He will reach the edge of a surface and keep walking straight off it, as if he can't see the floor. He also sometimes jumps at the empty air, a good...

    Wide eyes, long-sighted?

Hello. My boy Bandit is a leatherback, about 6 months old. I took him to the vet when I first got him; conjunctivitis, because he'd been kept too close to his UV and was essentially snow-blind. He had mucus in his eyes and struggled to catch prey because he couldn't see very well. He made a good...

    Beardie dislikes carpet?

(Apologies if this should be in the Enclosures forum!) My little Bandit still has stress lines, almost four weeks after bringing her home. (S)he is a leatherback, around twelve weeks old, and was kept on loose substrate in the pet store where I got her. Now I have her on dark green Komodo...

    My baby dragon is scared

A few things: I'd remove any and all loose substrate from the tank. It's very easy for a beardie to eat the chips/bark/sand by accident, potentially causing digestive problems and impaction. Newspaper works as a temporary substrate, so you can use that until you can get something more permanent...

    New here meet Azurite!!

Hello there, to both of you! Welcome to the community :) Azurite's colouration is lovely, and she seems quite trusting of you. She has a nice belly on her too, she should grow nicely.

    My baby dragon is scared

At two weeks, she could still be stressed from the relocation. If your setup is good, she should warm up to you in time and settle down. Could you describe the setup, please? Temps, UV, et cetera :)
