    Behaviour/care during brumation?

Oh adding to my previous message, if you are thinking of seeing if she eats and she does eat, remember to bask so he can digest and Oscar will also need to poop before brumating again. Otherwise any food left in gut while brumating may rot and cause issues.

    Behaviour/care during brumation?

Aah Melbourne. I thought Aussie or NZ by the way you measure temperatures and the timing of Oscar brumating. I’m from Auckland NZ. Anyway sounds like your setup are all good. Yes I would buy a scale to check weight. Major weight loss is the first sign of issues when brumating. Can’t be more...

    Behaviour/care during brumation?

Hi there, I’m also new to Brumation but got lots of advice from everyone including my reptile vet. My one, Swift has been brumating for 3 months now and still going. I can tell you what I’ve been doing and perhaps this could help. I used to take her out of her hide everyday and offer food and...

    Brumation help

Thanks for your reply. Yes it’s winter here, started about 2 months ago. Sorry, posted old photo of set up. Below is the current setup. The T5 is over the basking area, and I put theT8 over the whole enclosure, since I’m afraid if she doesn’t go on basking area, that she won’t get enough UVB...

    Brumation help

Hi guys. I’m in New Zealand and just need some advice. My bearded dragon (16 months old) has been brumating for about 3 months. She pretty much sleeps all day. I have been advised to take her out once a day and offer food and bask, but she only eats once a week. I feel like I’m annoying her...

Lay Box: To dig or not to dig

Wow, looks natural. I like it. I’m too scared to go natural as I have a fear of impaction. Hence why Swift enclosure has that “sterile” look. Too easy to clean stuff from Vinyl flooring :-) Anyway, Swift stopped digging, I guess from being bored or not ready to lay yet. So will take out the lay...

Lay Box: To dig or not to dig

Hi Guys, I had Swift when she was 6 weeks old and now she’s about 16 months and started scratching a lot lately, so was advised to put a lay box to see if she would dig. Never been with another bd and therefore, if she is gravid, eggs laid would be infertile, which is fine for me. I’m new to...

    Scratching a lot

Hi there, My dragon Swift (16months old) is getting more active. I “think” she’s coming out of Brumation. Anyway, she’s going into her hide and scratching a lot now. Then comes out, has a snack or basks, then back into hide and scratches. Does this mean she wants to lay eggs? If so do I need...
