    Confusing cause of death

The vet from the hospital phoned me yesterday afternoon and that's what she suggested might have been wrong with my girl. My main vet had mentioned it too, but was confused by the lack of other symptoms (no weight loss, lack of appetite, fatigue, poop issues, etc.) She seemed to go from...

    Confusing cause of death

The bloating started the following day. Her belly felt taut and her beard grew twice its size. That with her acting a bit off is why I opted to take her right to the hospital instead of waiting the next day for my regular vet to open. She'd gained over 50 grams of fluid in less than 2 days...

    Confusing cause of death

I know the shop where her original owner bought her, and yes they are questionable breeders. They have multiple complaints about how poorly they keep their breeding stock. My main vet had suggested it might be defect from that. She just can't figure out what started what and how. She does think...

    Confusing cause of death

They didn’t need to do an enema.. She pooped on her own on the exam table after the vet examined her abdomen so they were able to use that. For the lighting, I was informed because my enclosure is only 18” tall rather than the 24” typical, the 10.0 would be too strong. I do have the Solarmeter...

    Confusing cause of death

My bearded dragon died Monday and I'm trying to figure out what happened to her. Forgive this being long; I don't know what information would be relevant, so I'm adding everything I can think of. She was 2 years and 3 months old (hatched May 2021.) She was a craiglist rescue, from a home where...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

It is sad they can’t do anything about the cataracts.. I do worry about how he will handle it getting worse. We‘re spending a lot of time with him to see what other sensory things seem to make him happy.. Food is definitely one of them, and I’ll take that as a good sign! Meanwhile he does seem...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

Honestly to me it feels like an honor to be able to take care of them, and I am so grateful for that and for them. I wish I could do more, but 5 is all I can handle right now and be able to give them the love, care, and attention they need and deserve. It’s sad, cos my area really has a need...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

It was a strange thing coming across his ad. I wasn’t looking for another dragon as I already had a full house of four dragons already, but there was something about his eyes.. I just knew he needed a bit more care than most could give. He’s such a sweet and loving boy and I’m glad I found him...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

Thanks for the reply. He seems to be back to normal.. Still no more seizures and he’s been looking good. He ate really well again today, had another healthy poo.. a wander around the yard and a bask in the sun. I’m adding some pics from today and you’ll see his color and everything looks fine...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

We got a call back from his regular vet and the fecal came out clear. She’s now stumped too as to what caused his seizures. She also agrees with the other vet that if it was something like a brain tumor, he’d have had other symptoms and that seizures would be more of an end-stage thing and he...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

yesterday morning, not likely as he hadn’t been put down yet to roam. Plus he is really too blind to eat things on his own. however I did recall a few years ago buying a batch of turnip greens that had a strange plant mixed in it that a couple plant apps identified as black nightshade? So this...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

when I asked, they sent me the link to the app that only showed the list of what they’d done, but no results or notes or images. Tbh I’m not the most thrilled with that hospital, but there are no others around for nearly 100 miles. I’m going to see if my vet can get them tonight when I pop in...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

Update on my boy.. he’s been acting fine today. A little sleepier than usual first thing this morning, but not lethargic or less responsive, and he did eventually wake up as usual. No seizures since his last one yesterday around noon on the way to the hospital. He ate a big salad of turnip...

Sudden seizures in previously healthy dragon

I tried to get the films, but I guess they don’t post them to their patient app. I’d have to go there I guess, and it is a drive. The vet did rule out MBD and calcium issues as a cause of the seizures though.
