    Humidity?

His tank is at 92 on the hot side, and 88 on the cool side right now. Today he is choosing to be out and basking on the cool side. When the hot side approaches 100, he will always hide. So I've set the heat lamp to turn on and off through the day to keep it in the 90s, since that seems to be...

    Humidity?

I can't seem to find a recommendation for humidity for ideal care. We have a very humid summer here, and I know that beardies are desert lizards, so a lower humidity is best. I've removed the water bowl from the tank, but even so the humidity levels are at 50%, sometimes higher. A second heat...

    At home pinworm test?

The problem with that idea, is that a fecal test involves using a special solution, mixed with the feces to separate eggs out of stool, then it is examined under a microscope, or some tests centrifuge the sample prior to microscope. If you have not been trained, you won't know what you're...

    Feeder insect question

I'm sure I am not the first to ask this, but I keep hearing that dubia are a better choice to feed a dragon than are crickets. The problem is... I'm incredibly grossed out by the thought of bringing a cockroach into my house... on purpose. Are they enough different than the ubiquitous roach...

    Baby beardie not eating

Better and better indeed. Alex ate some of his salad this morning and 6 crickets so far. My son is ecstatic, and I’m glad we passed the first hurdle. Here’s to 10-15 more years fretting over a lizard! ?

    Baby beardie not eating

I’m happy to report that adding a stronger bulb to the heat lamp has gotten basking spot temps to 115. And Alex ate 10 crickets today, as well as moving about his cage more. Thanks again for all the help!!

    Baby beardie not eating

I’ll sneak in my son’s room tonight before bed to check the heat lamp. It doesn’t turn off until 9, so needs time to cool off. ?

    Baby beardie not eating

Wow, really, just a regular bulb is all I need? Would that work for basking too? So I can just up the wattage in the basking light to provide increased heat? I was looking at CHE bc they were recommended for additional heat, but if I can get the daytime temps up with a basking light, then...

    Baby beardie not eating

Ok. UVB is a T8, and is now mounted under the top screen. Thanks to some wire and pliers ?. I moved my temp probe over to his basking spot and it’s reading 93. Alex seems to prefer being not quite in the most direct heat spot of the basking light, I think that may mean he is warm enough? Or is...

Here are the pics of our set up. Thanks soooo much for all the advice. The uvb bulb looks like a fluorescent bulb. How can I be sure? Or maybe it will say in product description on website? I hadn’t thought of fishing line!!! Duh moment over here. ?‍♀️ Charity

    Baby beardie not eating

Our UVB strip is zoo med brand, with the accompanying bulb recommended by petsmart. (The salesperson helping when we picked up Alex stressed that the small circular light with uvb bulb wasn't sufficient). However, I no longer have the box for more specific info. I believe the bulb is also zoo...
