Reptile Group forming in upstate New York

Thanks so much for posting about the rescue in NY! I sent the info along to our group leader. They may be interested in forming an extension of the group, or maybe they could get some start-up tips. The first meeting was a lot of fun! We met at City Zoo, which is a pet store in Elmira. We...

    kittens + Beardie = ?

lol! Thanks! I try not to stress out too much, I just want to make sure I take care of the animals in my care to the best of my ability. I've read so many sad stories of people's pets getting hurt because the humans didn't know what they were doing (I actually have some of those myself...

    kittens + Beardie = ?

When I had 2 BDs I put a piece of cardboard between their cages, to keep Draco from making eyes at Sunny all day. Otherwise, Sunny would spend all day waving back to the cute guy next door instead of basking or eating. Do you think that the Sunny just needs more time, or is there anything else...

    People Are So Weird

When I used to take Walker outside on my shoulder, that's the reaction that I got from most people. Do people really think that anyone would tape a fake lizard onto their shoulder and walk down the street? Then again, you never know... As my dad used to say, "it takes all sorts".

    kittens + Beardie = ?

I'm fostering some kittens from the SPCA, and I have them in my study with my Beardie tank because it's the warmest room in the apartment; heat lamps and heat pads for the lizard tank, heat pads for the roach tank, my computer, etc. As a result, this room is usually at least 5-10 degrees warmer...

You know you're living with beardies when...

So I'm not the only one who thinks that would be cool! I thought I was such a geek before... btw, anybody have any nice pics of BD tattoos they want to share? You know you're living with beardies when: ...you have to squeeze in frozen chicken alongside pinkie mice and frozen roaches, and...

So how did your beardies get their names?

I named my first Beardie "Walker" because when she was little, she liked to stand up against the glass walls of her cage with her little belly against the glass. My 2 rescue Beardies came from an animal shelter with the names "Sunny" (because she had yellow coloration on her head) and "Draco"...

    Rescue from Los Angeles Craigslist

Congrats on the new lizard pad! It looks great, especially how you save so much floor space by stacking the tanks. Looks like everyone's settling in just fine.

    Experienced Roach Feeders!

Hissers can climb glass, Dubias can't. That's one of the main reason why I stick with Dubias. Besides all the other virtues of Dubias, I've had roaches since this past October and have never had a single escapee. My professor at college bred Hissers, and he had escapees all over the floor! I...

    Rescue from Los Angeles Craigslist

Nicole; Thanks for posting new pics of Chance! It's very exciting to see how much better she's looking. :D That picture with the light coming down in rays around her head is an awesome shot!! Just wait until she sheds for you! I'm sure there's some brighter coloration (maybe more yellow!)...

    Rescue from Los Angeles Craigslist

3 cheers for Nicole!! :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: Actually, make that 100!! You are truly amazing for rescuing this Beardie. I'm glad she doesn't look quite as bad in person as in the picture that was posted on craigslist, but she's definitely going to need a lot of TLC. I'm glad...

Dead-looking BD posted in LA craigslist. Lost cause?

Nicole, just PMd you about PayPal. You're really doing an incredible thing here, and I really hope that this little lizard has enough strength left to pull through. I definitely agree that the first order of business should be a warm soak in the bath, just be super careful that the BD...

Dead-looking BD posted in LA craigslist. Lost cause?

Nicole; do you have PayPal? If so, you can go ahead and send me an invoice for $50. Hopefully, this will help to cover the cost of the new 20-gallon and/or veterinary care. Please let us know when you're going to pick up this BD! We're all waiting on pins and needles here! :blob5:
