Mizzy is very sick, vet not helpful :(

Horrible news everyone. Mizzy is still alive and fighting hard. I have a diagnosis now. Yellow fungus. The vet recommended euthanasia. I'm not ready to do that yet, but looking at her today she IS in pain and now I wish we'd done it while we were at the office. This is so hard. I keep having...

Mizzy is very sick, vet not helpful :(

Thanks Tracie, the cream I am using is a generic brand Miconazole, I'll find out the strength in a little bit because the bathroom is occupied at the moment. I was worried about the chin especially. The smaller lesions are healing, albeit slowly because that's just how reptiles are. The...

Mizzy is very sick, vet not helpful :(

She never gets crickets because they're gross. She eats superworms and dubia, and I only feed her insects outside the enclosure because I don't want them escaping into her bedding. I should mention that her substrate is brown paper grocery bags cut to lay flat. They get changed when she poos...

Mizzy is very sick, vet not helpful :(

Oh, and these are not areas that were injured in the attack. She lost three fingers on her left hand and three toes on her right foot. That giant open lesion on her chin was just a small fleshy bump until the vet cut it open.

Mizzy is very sick, vet not helpful :(

Sorry it took so long to get pictures here. The bad sore on her chin is the same as ever. I think she may need an oral antifungal to deal with that. All of her original lesions healed except the big one behind her chubby cheeks, but it's black and dry, and feels like it's getting ready to fall...

Mizzy is very sick, vet not helpful :(

Hi everyone, My beardie has some really nasty lesions that have gotten much worse in the past couple of weeks. 3 months ago another beardie attacked her while they were having playtime outside the cage (not housed together and the other beardie has since been rehomed). The attack was so savage...

    Professor Lizard

Here's a sort of updated pic of Professor Lizard (Mizzy for short now). This one is about a month old. I need to get new ones already! She's growing so fast. And this is our new girly, Goldberry. She just shed in this pic

    Professor Lizard

She was a lucky break. They had a whole bunch of really high end herps that day. Two albino ball pythons for $600 each. Powder blue baby iguanas for $200 each, etc. There she was, sitting in the food dish and terrifying all the little brown dragons. The guy was actually glad to see her go so...

    New Beardie

:D We picked her up at the reptile expo over the weekend. She's out of a Dachiu (not sure what color) and a citrus from fire and ice. I'm super excited to see how she turns out. Her breeder said that she's a leatherback, but she's way more spiky than Professor Lizard. Not really sure how spiky...

Nutritional Requirements at Different Life Stages

Thanks! I was curious about percentages and things because people have said in several places on the forum that commercial beardie pellets/diet is fine for them to eat. But obviously they're not all the same percentages of protein and stuff, and some might be more okay for adults vs. babies. I...

Nutritional Requirements at Different Life Stages

Is there a website somewhere that lists the food requirements for beardies at different stages? From what I gather, babies should be getting 90% protein? At what age does that shift? What about adult females? If non breeding adult females can lay clutches of slugs, I assume they have...

    Professor Lizard

We found a random colorful looking leatherback at Petco, so now she is my daughter's. Meet Professor Lizard. I thought this would be a good place to document her color changes as she grows. Day 1 She was a little miffed at us and all the changes, but has a really sweet temperament and never...

    Homemade Hornworm Chow

Thanks for such an extensive reply! So much good information, and so many good questions. I'm picking some hornworms up on Oct. 1st, so am gearing up to start experimenting with them. The first few (10 or so) I'm going to keep on commercial chow and try to get them to adulthood so that I'll...
