Loosing weight

I checked Toothless' Weight a few days ago, it was 603. I just checked it a few minutes ago, right after he got up and it's reading 590. Surely he didn't loose 13 grams in a few days.? His eating has slowed down quite a bit but that started months ago, he only eats a couple bugs a day, 10 or 15 on a good day and eats about half his salad, sometimes only a quarter. He has been seemingly feeling bleh, as you guys know, the whole blood but possibly not blood in his poop thing. He had his first dose of antibiotics on Thursday and I haven't given any panacur yet, I was going to start that today.

Is that normal or will his weight fluctuate throughout the day like ours.?

Is he brumating? Because when they bromate they tend to eat less.

Medications will typically suppress appetite. It doesn't make them feel very good. Especially some of the harsher meds. What is he on?

He is on metronidazole once a week for two or three weeks and panacur once a day for three days but we haven't given any panacur yet and only gave one dose of the antibiotics. He ate a ton of crickets earlier, like a solid 20 or so. Does their weight fluctuate like people's does.?

No, thankfully. I couldn't handle if they brumated. 😅😅 the closest he came was slowing way down on eating. Like, he used to eat all his salad and a good 30 to 50 bugs a day, now he only eats a quarter to maybe half a salad and I'm super lucky if he eats 15 bugs.

How old is your bearded dragon? When bearded dragons turn into an adult they eat less insects.

He's almost 10 months. But he slowed down a few months ago, probably started when he was about 7 months or so.

Now I don’t think there is anything to be concerned about because I think he was overweight and now he is just losing some weight. Here is a link of a bearded dragons weight chart Bearded Dragon Weight Chart: Age, Size, And Healthy Weights
Surprisingly, he's not overweight. He's a big boy, he grew real fast because he ate a ton when he was younger. The vet said he's stocky and probably has a little bit of giant in him. He's about 600g and 21 inches long. He's been considered full grown for a few months. Coincidentally, that's when he slowed down on eating. He's a stocky boiii😅😅

Hello,

That is definitely a good sized dragon! You should post a few pictures of him, when you get a
chance to.
Was a fecal done to determine worms or parasites in order to medicate?
He shouldn't be losing too much weight, really. If he is trying to brumate, or has slown down
some as they often do, then his weight will fluctuate but shouldn't by more than 20 or so grams.

He isn't trying to brumate, he just slowed down. He'll eat worms all day, though. He had a fecal and an xray to determine worms, kidney issue and impaction and all were negative. The emergency vet did say the fecal aren't 100% accurate and gave us panacur anyway, a three day dosage. But we haven't started that.

He's definitely a big ol' boy. A big baby, too. He's terrified of the sky, the sun and the tops of trees. As well as the ceiling fan and just about anything that's on the ceiling.😅😂

I would not medicate him "just because" unless hes got a high number of parasites I would advise not to give - it can cause more problems - thats just me I am thinking its the weather and hes reacting to that --- dragons will go off their food and as long as hes eating and doing what he normally does let him be --

Yeah, that's what we were thinking. She said it didn't look like blood under the microscope but wanted us to bomb him with panacur just in case, to see if it stops the blood.

She also wants us to stop giving him foods with harder exoskeletons, like the bigger dubia's to see if it's him not chewing his food all the way. It may just be me but I swear his teeth are smaller or something.

Then try feeding smaller dubia or go to another staple-

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
