Uvb light too close

From the floor of her tank, Nova's new uvb bulb is 16 inches while sitting on the mesh. (Her tank is 15 and some odd inches tall from top to bottom) but from the top of that hide where she sits sometimes is only like 7 inches from the mesh lid. Is that too close for the uvb.? It's not pointing directly over her because we have it at an angle but I don't want to burn her. There's no way to hang it above her tank.

Also, when we switched her lights, she got *super* dark and is *suuper* streaked up, surely the light is just freaking her out in conjuction with messing with her stuff, banging around and stuff? She was totally fine before we switched them. Chris is convinced it's already hurting her, hence the real darkness of her back and the streaks.

Am I right in remembering your new light is a reptisun 10 in a T5HO?

If so that 7in is too close. Over the widescreen mesh you divide the 12-15 by 1.33 which puts you at 8-10. Considering your screen looks especially wide I would use the upper end of the range at 10.

You can use a pair of lamp stands, like these. Let me tag @KarrieRee as she will know if I've made an error in my calculations

it also depends on if you have a range of basking heights or just one. the 7 would be fine if it wasn't the only option. i see you have that log/vine looking piece in the back. that could be good right under the uvb to give a range of heights to be chosen from. 8-10 inches is pretty standard for being on top of the screen. this is why i love sir henry's vine. i don't have to worry about distances, he gets to choose. have i shown you the link to that vine before? if not let me know and i can show you. it really does help take the stress out of it all.

I don't think I've seen it. Nova sits either on the top of that hide or will stand on theground, propped up against the side of the hide, where that hole on the front is. On the mesh, the light is probably 8ish inches from her basking spot. But we have it at an angle, so it's not directly over her but she's still getting some uvbs I just can't tell if it's too much or not.

I can't remember the brand, chris bought it from Amazon but it's a t5 10.0 desert lamp. We have those stands for the basking bulbs but there's no way to hang the tube light from it.

Is it still a risk if the light isn't directly over her.? It's diagonal and she is in the back corner on her hide. And she does spend a lot of time on the ground right by her hide. What sort of behavior should I watch for.? Since we switch the light, she's been suuuper dark and streaked, I'm guessing the commotion scared her.? I swear she has anxiety, anytime we mess with or remove/add/rearrange her tank, she gets like that.

Please get a piece of basking decor directly under the UVB --- behavior would be eating -- is she basking under it -- her colors will pop -- dragons do not like change --- super dark could be shes cold not sure what other things would make her go dark - streaked meaning stress marks on the neck and stomach? Please get a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 or a Arcadia 12% bulb --- I have never heard of the brand ooibo --- is your fixture a Sunblaster Nano Tech 2 ft or 24"? this will fit the 24" UVB Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 UVB Fluorescent T5 HO Bulb (22", 24 Watt)

here ya go. grape vine

we have it attached to the side of the enclosure with one of the things that is used to hold broom or mop handles made by 3m link. the top where he is sitting below is slightly in front of the uvb, so even if he is up that high he's not directly under it. the very bottom is slightly out of the uvb too. but the middle range is in the proper distance. 12-15 for us cause it is inside, 8-10 for you with it on top.

you can also see his basking spot, which is slightly behind on the right. there is overlap between the two but he rarely uses the overlap area. he'll go back and forth between basking and different uvb heights throughout the day.

Chris got it off Amazon, it's a 24 inch, though.

Her colors are usually pretty vibrant, but I swear she has anxiety. ANY change, she freaks. She either basks on top of the hide or sort of standing/resting against the front side of it, just sorta chilling. You don't think she's getting any uvb in that corner with the bulb at the angle its in.?

Ah, I see your fixture has no hanging brackets attached. If it's this one, it appears it came with brackets. Perhaps you still have then somewhere?

If you got that one the bulb that comes with it is a 12%. Which (if it works properly, it's not a brand that is recommended) is going to put out more UVB than the reptisun.

It's hard to tell- I would say probably not - if she's not basking under I am gonna say it's the bulb something is off w/ it - is the fixture a 24"? If so get the bulb I posted please--

The link won't open so I'm not sure which one that is but this is the one he got.
