Mark on hand?

Hi, I was giving toothless a little bath/soak today I noticed a weird mark on his little hand, and I’m not sure if it’s scale rot or what. Or what could have caused this. I was just wondering what I should do, should I wait to see if it goes away or make him a vet appointment. I’m just confused because this doesn’t look that the pictures of scale rot I’ve seen so I’m not sure what this is.

Maybe it is just pigmentation or shed, never has happened to my beardie.

Hello,

Do you have an undertank heating pad or a heat rock that could have burned him?
I don't think it's scale rot but if you have any raw honey, or antibiotic ointment you can put that on
the area daily to see if that helps to clear it up.
Does it seem to bother him?

I do not have any undertank heating, and there’s nothing that I think could burn him. I’ve never had a problem before, but I’ll double check everything in the morning, I did get him some new bowls so maybe one is getting too hot from the basking bulbs. And no I can touch it and everything it doesn’t bother him one but. But I will pick up some raw honey or somthing for him tomorrow. Thank you!

Hello,

Ok, that sounds good. Maybe he rubbed it on something in his tank? Raw unpasteurized honey
or Manuka honey are great & should be easy to find.
Let us know how he is doing.

Actually I do have one more question, I was looking it up in case he licked it off his had if it was ok. Well I ready that honey can actually be very good to ad into their diet for energy and digestion and things like that, I read 3 articles or whatever saying it’s great and one that said it was dangerous, I was just wondering if you know anything about that?

While I don't personally have any experience using honey I've seen it recommended frequently here, and subsequently used for wounds including those on and even *in* the mouth. That would lead me to believe it is very safe and very well tolerated.

Just get "Raw unpasteurized honey or Manuka honey" like Tracie recommend. Otherwise it's not going to have the antimicrobial properties you want.

Honey should be safe.
The spot looks like an abrasion to me. Are you using a sand mat or anythingvthat is rough?

I don’t have anything in his cage that is rough, I do let him out to run around sometimes, maybe he got like a little rug burn or something like that

Hello,

It definitely isn't dangerous for them to ingest raw unpasteurized honey or manuka honey. It is
very safe. Were you wanting to add some to his diet a few days per week?
How is his hand doing?

Yes I would, just to ya know give him a treat a couple days a week that also comes with some health benefits! and I haven’t been able to run out and get honey yet, I’m running tomorrow to get some, but it does look a little better then yesterday, it’s not as dark, he’s sleeping right now otherwise I’d take a picture for you. And if you think adding it to his diet would be safe, how much would you recommend, one article said 1-3 tsp a day and I feel like that is to much. And if I do add it to his diet I feel like i could like drizzle it on his greens to get more of a variety because my little man won’t eat anything but kale, and I would hope the honey would make other greens more enticing, which would be great!

Hello,

You can simply thin it out a bit with some warm water & it will be a thin honey mix. That way
it isn't too thick or sweet but gives just enough flavor & substance to be able to drizzle it onto
his salad for him. A few times a week would be fine.
He definitely wouldn't need 1-3 teaspoons a day. I personally would go with just an 1/8th of a
teaspoon of honey & mix it with maybe 1/2 a teaspoon of warm water. Just use your best judgement
& adjust the amount for flavor & thickness. Once it's mixed, you don't have to use it all, but just
drizzle some of it on his greens. You can keep the mix in a small glass bottle & store it for later.
Good luck, I hope that helps out.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
