Sleep tight my little noodle

My last post here was in early 2013 when I brought home my little Nessie at 9weeks old. Here we are over 10 years later and this week I made the decision to let her fall asleep forever as we discovered recently she had inoperable cancer. I'm heartbroken but this was the kindest thing I could do for her since her quality of life was going downhill.
I'm so sad as I write this but relieved that she is at peace. What a wonderful life she had. I was able to spend quality time with her before today, I got some beautiful clay footprints and a little cast of her tail which I will cherish. I collect her ashes next week.

Nessie was my first bearded dragon, she taught me so much and what amazing little characters reptiles can be. Who could have imagined having a cuddle buddy who's a tiny dinosaur! She loved outdoors in summer, was well travelled, even sailed on a boat! She was part of the neighbourhood watch scheme (being nosy at the window 😂) and was the laziest, most spoiled girl.

Nessie, I will never forget you and I hope you are basking in beardie paradise right now with all the morioworms you can eat! Love you forever noodle! Mummy x

I have hundreds of photos and videos of her, but these are a few of my favourite. I hope you can see her little character shine through in them.

My condolences. It's so sad when we have to let them go, but you did the right thing. She was a very pretty girl and sounds like she lived a great life, well done my friend. 🙂

What a beautiful beardie. I am so very sorry for your loss. The pictures tell a story of such a wonderful life you gave her...she was so lucky to have you. Big hugs.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I miss her so much. I just keep crying in waves. I do something to be distracted but afterwards it pops into my head again that she is gone and I have such an empty feeling. Keep thinking I should have done more for her or noticed things sooner. 10 years went too quickly x

Maybe after you have had a little time to grieveyou'll decide to get another little one. It helped me both times i lost one.
I actually have another two. Male and female. George and pip. Both 7 years old. I was told that Pip likely wouldn't survive, she was so unbelievably tiny at first compared to the rest of them but I took her home with me and hand fed her puree food until she was big enough to eat live foods. Today she's thriving. They both keep me busy

I nearly cried reading this. My sincere condolences.

I brought home my little guy earlier in the week, and have been loving every second, but have also been stressed every second trying to make sure everything is absolutely perfect.

First beardie jitters I think.

The bond I've started forming with mine this early reiterates to me just how broken I would and will be if anything happened.

Glad you've still got company in your other two - are they a mating pair?

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
