Estinien is having trouble

Before i start, his uvb was replaced around a month ago, it is a t8 and he can get within the required range of it. His basking temps I'm currently working on lowering because the hottest spot was around 120f, honestly have no idea how that happened as I had the hottest at 115 when I first set everything up.

Last week we treated for coccidia with ponazuril after a vet visit and he seemed to be doing great up until 2 days ago. He only ate around half the crickets he usually gets (20-30 depending on his appetite) and just seems tired he is still eating his greens though. Yesterday he ate less than that and I noticed he was gaping more often and acting kinda restless and glass surfing so I spot checked some temps and his enclosure seemed to be too hot so I ran out and got a lower power basking bulb. That seemed to help with the gaping and restlessness but this morning he just looks tired and his beard was a little black.

The too hot of temps may have caused a RI going --- is there any mucous or discharge from the nose or mouth -- what is the cool side of the tank ? What kind of UVB fixture are you using for the T 8 ? If its a Zilla fixture there should be no clear plastic cover over the bulb --

No mucous or discharge, I also listened for crackling when breathing and didn't hear anything. The cool side of the tank is usually in the low 80s. As for the UVB, it is not zilla, and there is no plastic.

Ok so watch his behavior now w/ the lower temps- what are they? How old is he?

Lowered temps seemed to calm him down and the gaping stopped.

Not really sure on age, we brought him home fathers day last year and he was tiny so somewhere around 7months probably maybe older.

Ok so you want his temps 95-100-- are you getting the temps w/ a digital probe thermometer?

Giving them antibiotics messes up their appetite, it usually takes my guys 2 or 3 week after the antibiotics are done to start eating normally again. You can try giving him some none dairy probiotic yogurt to help get his gut flora back to normal.
Also antibiotics tend to dehydrate them, so keep an eye out for that.

I've been giving water with an extra medicine dropper when I check up on him and he drinks ok for me. I got some repashy from my local pet store and am going to make some tonight, if that's recommended.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
