Clogged femoral pores?

hi! So I’ve had my buddy Oslo (2, M) since April 2022 and we’ve been through many, many different health issues together, but clogged femoral pores is nothing I’ve ever had to deal with. I picked him up today and I think his pores are clogged? He’s in the middle of shed right now so I had first thought it was just loose shed, but then I realized those were his pores.

I’ve already put him in the tub to try and soften them. I have no intention of pulling them out myself, and I’m hoping with enough soaks he can do it himself. I just worry because he isn’t the most active dude, and so while he has plenty of climbing opportunities, he doesn’t take them. Long story short he has MBD from a previous owner not giving proper care, and he has bad days with his arm that keep him pretty inactive/unable to do a bunch of climbing.

I know the basics, like regular soaks & plain Neosporin applications before bedtime, but is there anything else I can do? Also what should I look for, and at what point should I take him for a vet visit? I am 1000% for taking him to a vet whenever necessary. I have yet to find a vet I’m satisfied with, but I will continue trying vets until we find one.

Get some coconut oil - use a soft baby toothbrush and brush it on - it may take several soaks to get them loosened up / soft - when they are good and soft gently squeeze them they should pop right out -- I see two that are protruding those you want to do the other ones dont look bad -- when the wax is protruding out that is when you want to get them unplugged - usually a good piece of rocky decor will help keep them down --

Personally i don't recommend trying to remove them, it can cause infections. Try giving him a big flat piece of rock to rub them on. Since he has trouble climbing and don't move around a lot i would try to get a big flat piece of sandstone. Try to get a piece thats thin because it can be fairly heavy. You can cut it or break the edges off with a hammer to get it to the size you want. You can use slate/shale also. It's easier to work but it isn't as course as sandstone. You can also use granite, basalt, limestone, ect but those are much harder to work if you have to break/cut them to size. Landscaping suppliers are a great place to source what ever type you chose, and they may be willing to cut to size.

I am not confident in my ability to squeeze them out. From what I’ve read, they are close to major blood vessels and I could hurt him. I would feel so bad after I just got him to a good place with his health. If they need to be squeezed, I’ll definitely be taking him to a vet to get it done. That being said, should I give him a chance to get them out on his own, or should I take him to the vet now?
