Hey guys…I just got a 4 month old beardie last week but I’m having trouble keeping his basking spot temp around 100-115. I have a 100 watt basking bulb with a digital probe thermometer. It reads anywhere from 93-98. I wonder if that’s causing him to have trouble digesting his food properly cuz i noticed the last day or so his poop has been different. Please help

How many inches away from the basking bulb is your basking spot? What are your temps on the coola and warm side? also what kind of uvb do you use and is it on the screen or inside the tank?

UVB and basking are on top of the screen. I have a 4x2x2 enclosure. The cool side floats between 77-82. It’s a t5 HO 10.0

If possible i would reccomend raising the basking spot as long as it doesnt get to close to the uvb or bulb( id look up the reccomended distance). if not possible you might want to switch from a 100 watt to a 150 watt. You might need a new lamp depending on how many watts yours can take if you switch.

Ok. I’ll try a higher watt and see if that helps. The dome it’s in goes up to 150 so i should be ok raising the watt.

Would his basking temps not being high enough have anything to do with digestion and poop, that your aware of?

From what I've heard yes proper temps are very important with digestion but if after getting proper temps they are still having problems you will probably need advice from someone with a little more expierience because I am pretty new to this

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
