Newbie with questions about UV distance

Hello.I have been scouring this site regarding appropriate distance from the uv bulb to basking spot. I have a t5 10.0 with reflector on top of fine mesh. I have the strip next to the heat lamp so only the outer part of the rock is getting uv.
If I put it on the other side of the heat lamp, it will only be 8 inches away from my beardie.
What I have read so far, specifies at least 9-10 inches away. He's a trans hey zero, so I wonder if 8 inches will be too close? Any thought or advice will be appreciated.

Screen looks like a wide hole type --- it can stay on top of the screen but please get a piece of basking decor directly under it 8-10 inches -- his morph doesnt matter here - if he was a silkie then I would say yes
