Beardie climbs mesh top because he sees his reflection?

Hi,

So I've posted before about this issue. I took Ted to the vet today for a general health checkup and mentioned to his vet that he climbs the mesh top all the time and follows the UVB. He does this for 2-3 hours every day.

After ruling out husbandry and health he said that he thinks it's likely because Ted sees his own reflection in the Arcadia ProT5 kit/hood/reflector. But he never displays that he's stressed or head bobs/waves.

I've contacted Arcadia (awaiting reply) but was wondering if anyone also has any ideas on "stopping the reflection"?

Thank you for reading this far. Here are some photos:

A video:

He usually goes all the way to the end of the bulb and stays for much longer before leaping. Never injured himself and never stressed. If the vet didn't mention that he sees his own reflection I'd think he's just playing around I guess

It's the amazing spider err beardie lol.
Honestly i dunno if it's the reflection or if he does it just because he can. Beardies are semiaboreal so climbing is in their nature. The biggest concern i see is if he injures himself. ..... but i got to say that dismount was epic lol.

Ohhh I see I see. I wasn't too sure if it was because of his reflection because if that happened I thought beardies would try to assert dominance or wave their hand. But he just seemed completely fine.

I guess there's nothing too much to worry about haha since he never injures himself. Sometimes when I catch him doing it I place my hands right under him so he can go onto me but he avoids my hands and decides to leap down instead... this boy 😅😫

Thanks for your input! It definitely helped me see another side ☺️

When they're young + " athletic " they are like kids or like other young animals. They like to explore everything and he's found a fave activity to burn off energy and keep him occupied. That is, to drive you crazy like they do. :)

Hahah yeah he definitely drives me crazy. Thank you and to everyone for putting my mind at ease. I've never felt so attached to an animal like I do to him, he's definitely family. Again, thanks! This site and it's users are always so so kind and helpful 🥰

Oh you are just getting started with the emotions! You have a long road ahead of you--read my posts. I've experienced so many with my reptile, it trumps all of my previous animals and I'm older. It's so crazy!!! These beardies definitely wiggle their way into our hearts.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
