Vet visits !!

Hi thank you for everyone who has helped out with our new baby bearded dragon for some context we got a baby bearded dragon from pet smart about 4 days ago I have been extremely stressed trying to provide the best care for our little baby

After learning about how petsmart does not really care for their animals I am very nervous about my baby dragons health i’ve heard a lot of stories now about people getting their bearded dragons from Petco or Petsmart or chain stores and I’m dying so I decided to take mine to the vet

Just by looking at the baby dragon they said that it is very alert and responds to touch the teeth in the mouth are good looking The only thing they said was that he was a little thin we will continue to feed him or her roaches is there any other Foods anyone recommends to have him or her gain some weight

Another thing is that our baby bearded dragon is not drinking water I’ve tried putting in a water bowl and I’ve tried soaking and putting water on his nose and whatever I do he doesn’t seem to want to drink it I’m getting concerned because he really hasn’t drinking water since we’ve got him

Recently we’ve gotten a temperature probe to accurately take the temperature of the inside of the tank we have a 40 gallon tank and today I exchanged my hundred watt lightbulb because the temperature was only getting up to 88 and I exchanged it for 150 W so hopefully it will get hotter

The vet wanted to do a test for
atadenovirus but it was very expensive so I decided to hold off and because the vet said he wasn’t really displaying symptoms of it. It’s just always good to get baby bearded dragons tested because it’s a pretty common disease. please help me what should I do

Why do you think he has adv? You can contact Tracie drache613 for the test - PM her she can help- as far as drinking water if he is eating greens rinse them before serving- he will get water from them-- dragons do not drink very often I would offer him water once a week from a dropper or drip on his nose- see if he will lick --

The vet recommended the test I’m not sure if they just wanted money or if they think he may actually have it just because he was around other bearded dragons in Petsmart when we first got him

We’ve tried to give him greens, but he doesn’t touch them and also we’ve tried to do the job on his nose and he also doesn’t like it so I’m not sure what else to do

You’re saying drache613 has the test what do you mean by that because I thought it was a swab test?

Also, I’m not sure if this is normal, but I just upgraded the basking lamp to 150 to get hotter and he’s laying under it right now and he’s kind of puffed up also closing his eyes for a little then opening them

Beardies do that when they bask. As far as water use an eyedropper to drip it on his nose, add in a little NONE citrus fruit punch for flavor.

Hello,

How is your dragon doing today? He is a little cutie, & small. It is normal for them to go
through relocation stress so I would give him a little time to get adjusted to his new home for
a couple of weeks or so.
Adenovirus is always a possibility. If he isn't displaying any symptoms, you could hold off on
testing him if you would like. If you would like to go ahead & test, as Karrie suggested, the lab
I work in conjunction with is a PCR swab test for $21.
We can review your tank setup as well if you need.

Hi yes thank you for replying he is doing ok just trying to make sure he eats and today I am going to try to add a little non citrus juice to his water to see if he likes that’s better 21 bucks it’s a much better deal than 143 and we are interested in doing this how could I get the test and to review tank setup would I send a picture or how would it work ?

Just enough to add a little flavor, you don't want to overdo the juice it has a lot of sugars. The water is the main goal the juice is just for incentive.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
