I picked up Goetta November 2nd from my local PetSmart (I know, I know. I said I'd never support PetSmart's awful breeding standards but something about him had me unable to get him out of my head. And I recently lost my girl, so I guess I was feeling emotionally charged). He very young.
I noticed the employee didn't really know what he was doing but I just kinda prayed he hadn't been under their care too long. He's a very active little dude and is eating, basking, and pooping just fine. But I've noticed him making a gagging sound every so often. I don't hear the standard RI clicking so I'm not sure if it could be that. He's done it since day one but I was hoping it would've resolved itself by now if it was a husbandry issue.
He's under a fresh t5 10.0 bulb. His temps range from 92 to 110 on his hot end/basking area, to 75 on the cool side. At night it sits around 70-75 depending on if our heater kicks on. The humidity has been sitting at about 25%-30%.
It truly sounds like a gagging sound. I also have noticed it's mainly when he leaves his basking perch. That's why I was suspecting an RI because I was thinking maybe he was choking on mucus. Idk. He doesn't have any sort of discharge either.
I just wanted to get some opinions. It's super hard to get in to see a vet in my area. I'm gonna call around tomorrow but they're all usually booked out for weeks and I'm just worried about it being something that needs immediate attention.
