Hey y’all,

Warning a bit of a long winded post here.

My beardie Gosha is going to turn 1 here in about 2 weeks. We had a treatment for parasites that was successful when he was about 8-9 months, and I’d say a week or two before that he lost interest in his greens and dubias. He only tried to eat them when we were outside in the warmer months to help him poop and similarly in his enclosure now (since it’s colder and we don’t go outside).

So…he is still totally uninterested in his salad and I’ve tried a variety of greens, different cuts of greens, fruits, dried flowers, bee pollen, mixing in bugs, etc…he is not having it. Recently started to add slurries once or twice a week, which he will mostly lick off his nose. He likes supers and crickets and loves mealworms and I’ve been slyly mixing BSFL in mealies for variety. He gets offered waxworms and hornworms occasionally as well, which he usually eats. I’ve tried some beardie buffet as a meal but he’s not into it, so instead it’s part of the slurry mix usually.

He is in good body condition and active when he is out of the enclosure, depending on when I let him out. I’d say poops 1 every 2 weeks (but I’ve started tracking his poop for real this week). Recently I’ve seen more of a black beard but I have a feeling it has to do with annoyance of not getting to go outside (but only stare out the window) and growth/hormones.

Sooo…this finally brings me to the advice part - I’d like to continue mixing things up for him in an attempt to restart with greens.

1. What are your liquid calcium and multivitamin recommendations?
2. What are your fave baby food you use with your picky beardies?
3. Any particular bee pollen brands you’ve had success with?
4. Any other💡 anyone has?

As for background info -
His lighting and temps are steady - Acadia T5 36” for UVB and 2 heating bulbs in basking in 95-103 range and the other in the 85+ range with varying temps and UVB in his enclosure. He also gets out to roam the room and chill by the window and has a 100 MVB there.

Phew…if you’ve made it this far, congratulations and thank you 🙏🏻

Window set up in picks…enclosure hasn’t changed from previous pics.

Is your uvb directly above the basking decor? Is it in the tank or top of screen?

That looks so comfy! He’s one happy beadie 😃 when mine refused greens I just hold off feeding him until I have to (a couple hours before lights go out). Since mine is still a juvenile I don’t really wanna cut off food for more than a day. But for mature beardies I think you can try that. Only present him greens for a couple of days, see what happens.

Yea, I've thought about that and kind of have tried that 1-2 days of greens only and mixing in bugs on day 2 or 3. I have not totally dug in yet but as he is nearing 1, I've been thinking of reducing bug specific feeding to 2 times per week, as opposed to every other day.

Yeah he’s gonna transition to more salads anyway. Let us know how it goes!

2 x per week multivitamins - I have had no luck w/ bee pollen so can't elaborate on that one- and I have not fed baby food so can't say- that is trial and error-

Plenty of people on the site have used Tracie’s liquid calcium and said good things about it, though I haven’t used it personally. You can give it a try 😀

As Karrie said it’s really trial and error, every beardie has their own preference. Mine absolutely abhors apple and banana baby food, would rub his head all over the floor if I even try to get it on his mouth 😂 however another beardie I know LOVES that mix and licks it off a spoon enthusiastically. Mine tolerates the pumpkin and carrot mix though.

Thanks, for Tracie’s site reminder, totally blanked, I have gotten a couple things from the site.

As for baby food, I was looking for any specific brands that people have liked, but I guess I’ll just swing by the store and buy a couple different ones.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
