Twitches

So, our new beardie is almost 4 months old, about 12 1/2" and about 105g female. I've noticed a few things.

First, her face will occasionally twitch.? Like, maybe just a few times a day, mostly in her neck.? Almost like a small hiccup, but I know they cant hiccup. Also, she twitches occasionally in her sleep.? I think.? It sounds like she's settling in for bed, like when they pull themselves into their spot for the night, but she's been asleep for over an hour. Both of these are only a couple times throughout the whole day. Naturally, google says it's signs of MBD, but the breeder we got her from confirmed she was healthy and she recently had a check up maybe a month ago, if that.

Secondly, she smacks her lips a lot. Like, how after they eat, they smack.? She'll do that several times a day, even when she hasn't had anything and the tip of her tongue is real pale looking, and I could be wrong on this one, but it looks like the tip of her tongue looks... I don't want to say split, but I don't know how else to describe it. But I could be wrong on that part. The tip of her tongue does look pale and she does smack a lot, and that's concerning.

Any ideas.? Surely it's not MBD. We do give her calcium with her salad and I'll dust either the crickets she eats or her superworms. Her limbs don't look swollen or anything, I just want to make sure the twitching isn't a concern.

Awww she looks like a little turtle in the pics  Both the twitches and smacking lips I’ve seen mine beardie do that. They do occasionally move in their sleep like us, nothing to worry about! As for the lip smacking just watch for thick stringy saliva, otherwise she’s just being herself. Here’s Draco’s tongue for reference- I don’t think there’s anything wrong with hers

Hello,

I realize how hard it would be to get some type of video of her but if possible, that would really
help out. They can twitch strangely, in their sleep as suggested, or when they are shedding, etc.
She is very cute! They can do weird mannerisms that appear to be a hiccup but shouldn't do that
often at all. She isn't showing any signs of a respiratory infection is she?

No other signs of respiratory infection or anything. It's not often at all, just maybe two or three times a day, at very most. I'll definitely try to get a video, it's super hard, she does it at random times and only does it two times or so when she does. It's weird. She otherwise seems completely fine, eats her bugs and salads well, especially her salads. She drinks in the tub and will sometimes drink from a little syringe, too. She is shedding, but her face and beard are done shedding, I believe. I just wanted to make sure it's not a sickness or anything.

The lip smacking can be a couple of things, 1) she is thristy, I've seen mine do it occasionally when they want water 2) after they gape their mouth their tongue is dried out and they are moistening it again.
The pale tongue tip is completely normal, it can be anything from white to pale blue, no worries there.
You are not imaging the split tongue either, although it's more like a little hand than split, i think they can actually grip with it (but don't quote me on that).
Are you asking about the tip of the tail being dark in the last pic? If so that is normal also, especially during a shed. As long as it's not injured, it's fine. :)

The tail is bent, like maybe she was born with it or an old injury. It's barely noticeable, though. And doesn't seem to bother her in the least bit. When we gave her her bath last night, she did drink a bit.

It may be because she's thirsty, she doesn't gape often. And the split tongue thing I didn't know, Toothless' tongue looks like... like a blob at the end, I guess.? Especially when he sticks it far out to reach something that isn't right in his face. And his isn't really pale, either. It's a nice pink color. For some reason, it's odd to think of how differently they all are.😅

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
