Why are our beardies going nuts?

We have 2 beardies, one 4 yrs (female) and the other approx 10 months (male). They hadnt really taken notice of each other until 2 weeks ago when the younger one started head nodding when he would see the older one. The older one would become black on her beard. She was showing aggression too. The younger one has started doing the same. Now, the older one has been acting very bizarrely. She wont eat (2 weeks has gone by with her having eaten 2 mealworms, 1 cricket and tiny amounts of veggies, almost nothing at all. She has zero appetite. She is constantly wanting to get out of her tank and runs around the house. She then finds a cosy spot in the sun and falls asleep. When she is running around the young one goes absolutley crazy in her tank, trying to get out, scratching the sides of the tank, head nodding, running around wild. Does anyone know what this means? Do they want to meet? Attack eachother? Make babies? We are needing some expert help please as the help we've had from the pet shops around our area hasnt been great in the past.

Are you sure they're both female? Sounds like 1 or the other might be male. Either way unless your planning on mating them, they shouldn't be allowed to see each other. It causes stress. Could be why the 4 year old has gone off food.

Hi, thanks for your message. The younger one is definitely a male. We have their tanks on a shelving unit, one above the other. I’m wondering if we should completely separate them into different rooms so the can’t hear each other either? We may mate them but the younger one is far too young for now. The kids do take them out of their tanks (never at the same time) and give them cuddles and they run around and sit in the sun etc. This is obviously stressing them out when they spot the other one. Would you suggest separating them from the same room? Thanks again,

As long as they can't see each other- dragons are territorial and when seeing each other it stresses them out - keep them separated and out of sight from one another- if you want you can put them in separate rooms - they should never be out at the same time- the bigger one can kill the younger one

I agree with Karrieree, just hearing the other really shouldn't be a stressor, typically it's line of site you have to worry about.
