So I have posted that on here before about my baby beardie prolapsing when he poops, in cast you don’t know he will prolapse when he poops and he’s does this for about a month now and there was blood before but the blood has lessened now. And I haven’t just been waiting, I made the soonest appointment I could like 2-3 weeks ago, which is next week, but my boy has not been eating running around as much in the past couple days. I do have some critical care, should I start giving him some to help until his appointment next week.

Hello,

Yes, since he is young & needs his nutrition, the Critical care should help a lot.
How is he doing today? Is he still having blood or has that essentially gone away now?
I hope that he is doing better. Keep us posted on his progress.

So I haven’t noticed any blood today, but he is being extra lazy today, didn’t eat very much at all, but willingly ate the critical care, I’m not sure if he’s not feeling well or if he’s just cold because it has gotten a little colder out.

Hey. Seeing your enclosure the lighting, UVB most importantly, needs to be upgraded right away. Compact bulbs do not make enough UVB. You need a florescent tube style light. Some good brands are Arcadia T5 12% with a reflector hood or Zoo Med Reptisun T5 10.0. Bulbs that are T5 are better than T8, they look thinner but they are the newest type of UVB tube light.

Screens block up to 30% UVB. Keep that bridge you have so he can get close and bask within 6-8 inches of the light through the screen.

When you get to the vet ask them what they think is causing the prolapse. Prolapse can be related to calcium deficiency. Upgrading the UVB and proving enough calcium supplements, is vital. Get a new UVB lamp ASAP

The vet might recommend blood work to check blood calcium and other chemistries. If you do any test know you have a right to see the full report. Depending on the office it may take a few days for results. Have them email you the full report. I worry the vet didn't do something to help you get in sooner for a prolapse condition!

Hello,

When is your vet visit, next week? I agree, a blood test would be a good idea because it
will show kidney & liver function, calcium levels, etc or an infection as well.
As suggested, UVB lighting is very important & directly impacts the body's ability to be able
to absorb calcium & other vitamins.
I am glad to hear he is taking some of the critical care so that he can get some nutrition right
now.
How is he doing today?

I just read that this Weill be too much for him,

I just read that this will give him too much uvi? Because he’s in a 20 long
Please place it on top of the tank w/ it being unobstructed and the piece of decor directly under it 12-15 inches -- you can place the fixture vertical or width wise across the end of the tank or middle up to you and just have your basking area either in the middle or end of the tank placing the screen butted up to the UVB fixture -- that way you can place the basking lamp on the screen next to the UVB

Hello,

Either one of those tube bulbs will be just fine for him. As Karrie suggested, placing it underneath of
the screen top would be terrific. Are you getting the Reptisun or the Arcadia?
