Wanted to introduce my new little buddy, Archimedes! Oh, and myself. Arky (his nickname), was adopted three weeks ago. This little guy is so darn cute and funny. I am sure I will find lots of help and useful information in this group.

Welcome. You have come to the right place. There is a ton of folks here that can help you with just about anything. If you are new to beardies please work with @KarrieRee on getting your lighting on point. That is the very most important aspect and the most over looked. If it basking temps are off they can't digest their food and may refuse to eat at all. If their uvb is off or inadequate they will suffer a never ending variety of health and behavioral problems. Their care isn't hard but it is really specific.
If you feel like it post pics of your lil buddy, we all love seeing them.
Karrieree may ask for pics of your setup as well.

Thank you! Arky has a Thrive Desert brand self ballasted lamp 10% UV-8 and 3U-13 Watt 30% UV-A. How should I keep Arky warm at night, if not using the red light?

Please get rid of the thrive bulbs - they are no good - you want a solid clear bright white basking bulb like flukers - Exo Terra intense or zoo med repti basking bulb or Arcadia halogen - temps at night should be 65-75 ambient - you only need heat at night if they are falling below 65 them a che ceramic heat emitter will do

Yeah, his basking bulb is a thrive as well. So, I'm going to need a whole new setup. Bummer, back to the pet store.

Unfortunately they folks they hire at the box stores usually have zero actual experience with the animals they sell, they are not trying to deliberately mislead, they just don't know. When i first got into beardies i spent a fortune on garbage and then another fortune on good products. Hind sight truely is 20/20. Once you get the correct fixtures in place it's not as bad anymore. The bulbs are relatively affordable when it's time to replace them. If you get the domes with ceramic base they last forever. Do try to keep your cords from laying right on the ceramic though, i have melted a couple with the hotter bulbs over the years.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
