Your dragon will not eat w/ out correct UVB -- please get it changed out -- when you get the new one please post back on here I can help you place it for your tank - the screen will determine where it goes - distance and placement is crucial

I have purchased a T10 tube light, no T12 locally and did not want to order online.

After 8 hours of being under the new light she started moving around a bit and posturing her head up higher and more alert.

It has been 4 days.
The first day after 8 hour wait she ate a good amount of worms, said no to greens and water.
The second day she ate a couple worms, said no to greens and water.
The third day she said no to all.
The fourth day she is coming out of her hide and getting under her UVB light and shows no desire for food or water yet. She visually seems happier and more alert; definitely more moving around.

I feel like the lack of UVB is what caused my younger one to pass and the older one to stay depressed.
I knew about the expiration of UV lights and it kills me that I didn't remember and keep track of it. I feel like **** about it. I will be writing dates on my bulbs from now on.

I think the older one will live much better with the renewed UVB light even if she is not that hungry. I really think she is in her end of life stages and missing her tank-mate. She is more alert and happier looking now, but still looks like she's done with life and just waiting - if you get what I mean.

If it matters, the UVB light is about 14 inches from her and the mesh it sits on is about 1x1mm holes, typical mosquito screen. The bulb is in a reflective metal dome enclosure pointing down.

For that bulb on top of a screen, the basking spot should be closer, like 10-12 inches. Otherwise mounted inside 12-15 inches above, so your 14 inches would be perfect.

I'm very sorry you're going through this. I never imagined someone could get so attached to a lizard until I got to know my little guy as a house pet at work. Definitely never thought I would be bringing him home when we shut down and he needed a new place. Now I can't imagine life without him. I'll be sending positive vibes your way.

I appreciate the feedback. As far as I can tell, most all animals can have some form of love or comfort attachment to another. It is just usually unnoticed by most casual observers it seems. Bearded Dragons are definitely one of the comfort/attachment capable types.
I feel sorry for my old girl. I guess just make sure she has food and water and handling until she's ready to go.

As I stated in an earlier reply, it is about 14" from the base; Does the 1x1mm mesh kill that much?

I would have to remove the screen which keeps the cats out to lower that light. I don't think I can do that.
Can you give me an idea of how much the UVB light is killed by going through a 1x1mm mesh? I would like to understand the math. Thank you.

Ok it can stay on top just make sure your basking decor is directly under the uvb approx 8-10 inches-

The hot light is 4 inches from edge-to-edge from the UVB light.
