Good to hear about humidity thank you. New issue is I don’t think my 10.0 UVB is working properly. The 5.0 is brighter.

Low exposure in both these photos so you can see the issue.

^ 10.0 UVB seems “dead” in the center. The center also has kind of a wavy flicker..
Return the bulb - use the 5.0 for now distance 6-8 inches no obstruction - I always have spare uvb's for just that and replacement plus when the pandemic hit I couldn't get the Arcadia's I was using so I went to the reptisun bulbs- they interchange for your fixture

Got a new 10.0

Question… is there a left/right and up/down when putting the bulbs in?

Please enjoy these photos of Simon discovering his salad.

I’ll give another update on Monday after vet visit.

Please no enemas! How is his basking going?
Yes no enemas of course! Going well, I can’t believe they had a 160w bulb. The 100w I put in was too hot so I had to downgrade to 75w, which was still too hot! 50w is perfect, temps are around 96-99 usually in basking spot. He’s spent most of the day basking, and basks right after eating like a good boy. Some relocation stress has caused some glass surfing but very minimal. He actually has spent so much time basking (or just in the hot side) that I’m worried he’s not going under the UVB enough. I’m sure he’ll explore the tank more when he calms down a bit.

If I wanted to take him outside for extra UVB exposure how long would be beneficial? 30min a day? Not going to do that yet because I don’t want to handle him a ton before he’s gotten adjusted.

Outside uvb is good- 30 min is real good - even a hour but you need to keep an eye on out side temp too- if it's really hot out- you can take and put the uvb vertical next to the basking bulb so he's getting both- how do you have it set up now?

Vertical?

Here’s how it is now.

Take the UVB place next to the end of the tank going width wise ---- over your hammock or move it to the front of the tank in front of the basking light -- it does need to be 8-10 inches over a piece so hes getting adequate UVB --- your screen is a wide hole type correct?

@KarrieRee He’s been climbing on the plastic branch a bit so I think it’s fine for now.

So I got Simon insurance (Clyde has it too) just in case things get expensive. Unfortunately that means I need to wait 2 weeks because if he gets diagnosed with anything before then it won’t be covered.

Luckily nothing seems urgent and I’m hoping he will just keep getting stronger these next 2 weeks. Probably best that he gains some strength before taking anything for parasites, etc.

However I would love to get him on a liquid calcium (I heard they absorb it better) in the meantime. I’ve seen some for reptiles online. Anyone know a good brand and how much I could give?

Ask Tracie (drache613) she's the vet tech mod - she has website called bugdelite - you can pm her if you like

Simon is a much lighter color today! Not sure what this means but it seems like he has less stress marks. He finally started pooping (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and a little bit this friday morning mostly liquid though). Seems like he is still getting everything out from when he had no basking light before. He will be seeing the vet on Monday.

LOTS of glass surfing lately but it seems related to pooping.

Just wanted to post some photos of his color change today, his tail again, and some of his poops.

His tail still looks concerning to me, especially with the rest of him being lighter now, the tail is very dark.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
