What are you referring to? The black between the scales or the brownish area near the bottom of the neck/picture?

Either way I don't see anything wrong in the picture.

Yes, it seems to be yellow and black and painful to touch. I will do my best to get another picture thank you for your reply

The area at the bottom of his neck looks a little bit off but nothing major, could be an odd shed. Can you post pics of his enclosure ? Is he on loose substrate, is there any moist areas in the tank or a water bowl ?

Hi! Thank you for your reply (he is indeed shedding a ton rn) there is no loose substrate in the tank, there is a water bowl that comes out at night and the humidity rests around 30-35%, although it was harder to control when I first got him a month ago which is why I was worried. (Also I know the enclosure is a little small, but I am currently in the midst of investing in a larger space, more “full space” for him, this is the encloser I was given about a month ago. I was worried since it looked yellow, and the scales looked like they were brown and kinda shriveling.

It's most likely just lingering shed like Claudius mentioned. I asked about the water bowl because some dragons will lay in them for too long and that could cause some scale damage if they were wet for too long. Other than that he looks fine. He is outgrowing his nice set up, if I could make a suggestion it would be to have one large basking log going across part of the tank for climbing and to get closer to the lights.

Thank you! I will definitely keep an eye on it, I just wanna do right by him! He sometimes sits in the water bowl, but never more than like 5-10 mins a day from what I have seen.

Hiccup he is 6 and Blaze is 4
If you are using a T 8 uvb it needs to be unobstructed from the screen and a piece of basking decor directly underneath 6-8 inches- if the bulb is 6 months or older it needs to be replaced- if there is a clear plastic cover on the fixture please take it off

Thank you for your feedback! I had no idea about the plastic, but the bulb is brand new!! I just spent the time trying to take out the tiny plastic screws and bam! No plastic now!

With the plastic cover on it and it on top of screen your dragon is getting no uvb- please adjust as I posted and watch his behavior

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
