Runny Stool and Slightly Orange Urate

Hi,

For the past couple of weeks we've noticed that Toast's (10 month old male) stools are coming out very runny, with hardly any solid logs formed. It's just mush, and his urates are tinted orange. Up until a couple of months ago he primarily ate crickets, while eating a few leaves out of the morning salads we kept offering him; since then, he's started eating up to two whole salads daily while still eating a couple dozen crickets twice or thrice a week. We used to dust every batch of crickets with repashy calcium until we'd noticed the orange urate, and reduced that frequency since too much calcium is often cited as a cause of orange urates. The urates have remained orange.

The salads he eats are a mixture of rinsed collard greens, kale, arugula, and diced squash, and fill a bowl about the size of my palm. We basically keep it refilled as long as he eats it until a couple of hours before bedtime.

Also, while his stools have always been stinky, they feel like they've been especially stinky these last few months.. it might be bias, and we had a fecal test performed after the stink started - which came out negative for parasites. We're going to find another vet in the area that will do a fecal test for us, but in the meantime, are there any dietary red flags that could be causing this?

Thank you all very much for your time,
Bergmite

My Bell has some similar issues. Mushy stool, excess mucus, yesterday even had some blood(which I'm definitely freaked out over). Gonna try and find him a vet.

As per your question my best guess would be that the squash is coloring his poo. Does he eat everything evenly or just pick out the colorful bits like mine does. Bell is not very fond of green but if I add carrot, squash, bell pepper he will sit and pick through it to eat these. He does occasionally eat some greens but his poo does get slightly colored because of this.

Yes, he definitely prefers carrots and squash whenever I add those. I think the consistency relies a lot on how many bugs I’m feeding him per week? I’ve noticed it’s a lot more runny the weeks I don’t feed him as many. I’ve been trying to cut back a bit since he’s going to be a year old next month… I’m not too worried about parasites because he eats really well and hasn’t been losing weight (he might be a bit heavy for 11 months, he hovers around 400 grams), but from what I’ve read it just isn’t really normal for it to be so runny and smelly.
Thanks for your reply!

Hey Bell just turned 1 too! I've never weighed him but last I measured he was 20-24 inches already. His stool is always pretty smelly haha. He is kind of potty trained. He doesn't like to poop in his enclosure (which is great for me less clean up). I just have to follow him around with a paper towel.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
