So we made it. Rocky was fighting her sleep for the first two hours so waiting for her to go to sleep was not really necessary. I began to drive and had her in a carrier-- I would pet her when possible. So I left the bag unzipped about 2 inches, I swear, and Rocky jumped up and came for my shoulder LOL It wasn't safe but it was hilarious. I swerved just a little, grabbed her and put her back, shedding scales flying everywhere. Oh Rocky!
Rocky slept the rest of the way.
All is well- we made it to our destination safely.

Thank you everyone. Rocky is a hit/very popular. I let 2 people (that I know)- hold her and she is doing well. The first day so refused and clung to me. I smiled and said, "When she's ready" and made them step back!
Oddly enough everyone tells me that they think she's spoiled rotten, but they know not of what they speak!:ROFLMAO:
I stay close of course when she is being held by others but I feel guilty going out of our normal routine. We wake up/she is going to bed on time- she is playing in her playpen like normal and seem to being doing well but I just don't want to overwhelm her. She's eating normally, pooping and so we are fine in that area. You would swear this is the biggest deal but it's major for me.

When they are well managed beardies are curious animals. Once they get used to an ever changing environment they start to enjoy it. Starting them young like Rocky makes them well rounded. When they are not interacted with they are jumpy and flighty. Snickers was like that when i got her. The guy bought her for breeding and didn't handle her. Now she loves attention and being out. Your doing great with Rocky. She is living the life :)

So the trip is going well...sort of. My concern is that we are so out of our routine. The daily basking--- cut short -
Eating- slowed but not concerned.
Poop- regular

All of a sudden, Rocky sits at the window for hours (no barrier- sits on pet bedding). I wasn't too concerned because it's still sun. Then of course, I gave in and looped the basking light over her.

The eating is the same for the most part but Rocky is starting to shed on her beard.
I put her to bed today 2 hours early because I can tell she was miserable and every time I put her in the playpen, she was instantly stressed.
Due the carpeting, I don't want to let her roam - but she all of a sudden hate her playpen and that's where she has to stay for another week.

Another day, Rocky was in the window chasing birds and blowing leaves- who is this? Of course, I am standing behind and put her in pet bedding so she's comfy but she was stressed. When I pulled her out of the window, she instantly calmed down. See attached picture- those spots are from the fleece cuttings of my shirt-

Oh- the humidity is awful here- every time I cut the AC off, it spikes up to 70. She's had a few hours when she was at 70% because I needed a break from the AC.

My questions/concern- am I going to have a problem putting her back in her enclosure when I get home in another week?
Am I doing am harm by putting her to bed early? Again, it was 2 hours (she went right to bed)- of course I checked on her every hour LOL she's fine -

Of course, I have some successes--- Rocky has met at least 10 people. She is a hit everywhere that we go. Okay, this may be too much in itself huh- about 5 people have held her and she has done amazingly well. Someone even facetimed all of their reptiles - it was so cool.
If I say "stay"- remember, former dog parent, Rocky doesn't move. Rocky can be outside of her enclosure, well, playpen and not run off. I am so proud!!!! Rocky has also mastered the shoulder training! I still won't take her out without anything but inside, Rocky is doing so well. #proudparent

You should have any issues with you get back home. Atleast I don’t have any issues with mines. It like he realize what home is. In terms of window it’s good for them to get the outside enrichment. She just getting used to seeing new things. After about a mo mines got used to shadows from trees and branches. Also the birds and squirrels. I let mines go to sleep when they’re ready.

Thank you so much- she's so routine and her parent is just a lil obsessive
I thought we had to stick to the # of light requirements per day- this is really good to know.

With regards to the outside enrichment, I must admit- at home, she glass surfed until I moved a plant (at least 6 feet from her) and closed the blinds. When we get home, she better not try that mess again. And today, I looked at a picture from when I got her and she lived 3 INCHES from a plant. I swear she is pulling one over on me. I paid attention because while she was in the window, some live plants were near her and she could care less, she was more intrigued by the birds outside!

They are very curious. As she gets older she will be less and less stressed. Remember in the wild the mother doesn't hang around. They are thrown into the big ole world all on their own. They are very adaptable animals.

You sound like everyone around me- my response, "But she wasn't in the wild!!!" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I guess I have to remember no matter what, she has those instincts and simply EASE UP!! I can totally take tough love!
Note: only because it was said HERE, I would listen. Everyone else in the world doesn't know what they are talking about!:ROFLMAO::LOL:(y)

Rocky and I are back home. After looking her around her enclosure for about 5 minutes, Rocky was totally fine. I put a little bowl of calcium out because I don't think I was giving her the right amount while we were gone. I read that they will get what they need if that's the case and viola, she was on top of it. Not too much but she did take some of it. See first picture.

The shed that started while we were gone is almost done. See third picture.
I guess Rocky didn't need all of the extra eyes on her.
Rocky is tapping on the glass as we speak for her roaches but she hasn't eaten her greens yet. She was doing so well in that area but hey, if that's the 1 think I have to get back on track, I will take it~
(It's only been an hour since she woke up so it's not time for her regularly scheduled bugs). See second picture- I couldn't catch the tapping because when I walked over, she thought I was going to meet her needs.:ROFLMAO:

Oh, Rocky was not for the road trip home...she zonked out about an hour in. She took the fleece pieces, covered her head and went to sleep in her carrier.
I am not about to take her out of the carrier for a little while I drive now but within about 5 minutes she wants to explore. For safety reasons- I will wait a little longer.
This happens whether I am driving or on the passenger side of the car. Rocky has this odd fascination with seat belts.

I recall seeing pictures with beardies on dashboards, I can't wait until that day.
While it may be too soon for that, I put her on my lap (when on the passenger side) and let her crawl to the window. She's good for about 2 minutes then she wants me to hold her so she can bask in the sun. While it's the cutest moment- Rocky's hands wrapped around my fingers, it's a tiresome task-
How reflective of relationship: WRAPPED AROUND (her) fingers!

Poor thing she looks so miserable with the shed. Its funny the things they obsess about. I had one that hated ceiling fans (but thats understandable), now i have one that hates the a/c vents for some reason , she stares at them none stop.
I'm glad your trip went well, i knew rocky would do ok!!!!
One word of caution on the dash though, just be mindful of the temp it can get very hot really fast. It could cause her to try and jump off. My girls love to ride there but they usually get hot and bail out of the dash pretty quickly.

Yes- we are in the middle of a heatwave and I thought of that but you know that I would always have a pillow or something handy for her :ROFLMAO::LOL: I was thinking the overstimulation of me going 100, I mean 65may be too much. Rocky already puts one hand on the bag every time we go near my car (and I am quite offended LOL)

I think it's one of those goals that I am going to admire from afar - safety first!

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
