Hi there! I own a 3-4-month-old bearded dragon. He loves to go outside and run but I can only let him run so far before I have to pick him back up. I really want to take him around the yard and on walks with me with a harness. he is 10 inches long. Is that too small for a harness? and if it isn't, is there a harness y'all recommend?

Rango beat me to it. The one he linked is pretty much good from juvenile to adult.

I have this harness- (I never thought about the bell- mine came with the wings)-
My 5 month old is hesitant about putting it on at all. Rocky is 16 inches and you may not have this problem but I wanted to make you aware, beardies vary and do things when they are ready.
I read somewhere on this site that 8 months seems to be a sweet spot.

My consistency and patience in the house has made me more and more comfortable with understanding her level of curiosity. I still wouldn't take her out to roam without a harness.

I am currently visiting a place with carpet (I have hardwood) so while I brought the harness with me, I would rather not do it here as carpet can hide items. I did, however, let her out to use the beardie ball- take a picture then took her off (too many unknowns).

I'll give it a test with him! I really want ones with wings lol. But I won't push him and hopefully, he'll be easy and like it. he's so far really well behaved so once it arrives ill update! I also plan to get a beardie ball since my beardie loves food so much. I swear he acts like he doesn't get fed

So just for you, I attempted to put on the harness this am and look at the results! See the attached picture. Again, I am not a fan of the carpet but look how she blended in - If I am not mistaken, it could mean the temperature was correct or at this point, she was showing emotions (she was happy at this point).

The wing on the left side actually got in the way of her walking at times.
Rocky still wasn't a fan of putting it on; she pooped on my friend who held her-LOL
Rocky didn't show stress marks, she simply didn't want it. Rocky will let you put it on, she just didn't want to keep it on but today was a FIRST!

Rocky didn't dart off but looked around for like 2 minutes - she then walked then ran, she felt the area out and did better than anticipated. As this isn't my home, I couldn't let her lick everything to ensure safety/comfortability too much - LOL Rocky is more interseted in the window!

Best of luck!

Well she is just adorable! adult beardies sometimes end up not as cute as the babies but she is the kind of adult I want! So cute lol. the harness arrived I believe two days ago and the first time he hated it. but I put it on during feeding times for positive association and he's already getting better! Alike yours he pooped on my mother later and she tried to hold him, (she helped me calm him down to put it on) Its like they do it for revenge lol. My beardie also loves windows! he tries to go straight through them. He even climbed a tree with the harness on! (I was right there to catch him and didn't let him go too high)

I am so excited to hear this story :) I am glad it was a hit. He is going to enjoy his freedom/ability to explore - I am glad things worked out, poop and all. I am not convinced it was for revenge. With all of the squirming, I didn't even notice because the infamous poop wiggle is oh so noticeable LOL

Yes, Rocky is a baby- 5 months (well a juvenile but forever my baby:love:) The other wings were too big. While these wings were thinner, they were longer, but we made it work for the moment. It was for a short duration, and I think when she gets about 8 months, it will be more effective.

Thanks for sharing the moment with us!

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
