Hi! New owner here. I've had my juvenile girlie for a little over 2 weeks; she's a rescue. Yesterday, she was chilling on her cool side cuddling her plushie a lot and didn't want to eat. Y'all gave me advice on the UVB situation and I adjusted it, which, after she took a massive poo when I set her on her basking spot, she acted fairly normal the rest of the day. Ate most of her salad, ate a bunch of grasshoppers at dinner. This morning she stayed on her plushie again until I came to give her breakfast, which I'm still not used to, but can't figure out if she just likes it more than sleeping in her hammock now. I set her on her hammock (where I usually hand feed her her proteins), and she ate a decent amount, but not as much as usual. I'm still having trouble figuring out what's "enough," because when she got here she ate like a horse (she wasn't being fed on the proper juvie schedule at the last place).

Anyway - the tip of her tongue is usually super pink, but this morning I noticed it's yellow. It's wet and plump - not swollen, not crusty or sad or anything, just... yellow. Rest of mouth is usual pink color. She's not dehydrated. After eating breakfast (repashy beardie buffet sprinkled with calcium/D3 dust), she promptly told me to **** off, ate a bit of her salad, and is now basking - all normal routine for her. I read that a yellow tongue could be from a number of completely normal things, but I'm hella paranoid, so am afraid I'm giving her fatty liver disease or some ****. My question is: could her tongue turn yellow as a result of a recessive gene coming out, since she is a juvenile? Or could it be the result of something good, like becoming healthy from a better diet/lighting? I'm not gonna be able to get y'all a picture of her mouth; she's still not used to being handled, so the only time I really get to see it is when she's tryna grab food from me. Like I said - yellow tip/front half of tongue, pinkish mouth and gums. Unable to get a look at the back of her throat. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

As far as amount of food, beardies typically won't over eat. They know when they have had enough and will stop. I have brought 1 rescue and 1 bought for breeding that wasn't handled. One is 2 years old the other 1 year. Neither where fed correctly before i got them, they both were ravenous at first. Now they are more chill and picky, they eat their feel and stop. Some days more than others.

As far as the tongue i think pretty much all beardies have a 2 toned tongue. I have personally seen blueish whiteish, lighter pink. I know some others (not the pagona's have a yellow mouth)could be genetics.
Try to get a pic to post, put her in her basking and wait for her to gape her mouth. If your basking in the correct temp she will eventually gape.
Also you could hold a treat out of her reach, sometimes they will lead with their tongue of they really want the treat

Okay - I will do my best to find an opportunity. Thanks for the advice!

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
