i have a beardie thats 2-3 months old. I About a few weeks ago he started to do this thing where when he is basking one or two back legs will be straight back and he wont move them until I touch them or pick him up. he sometimes will jump from my hand and keep holding on with his back legs but jumps with the rest or his body. i feed him enough crickets a day. larva. salad and he has proper lighting and basking lights. whats going on?

Hello there! No worries that is completely normal! when they are content, and content they will sleep this way or just bask in general this way :) My dragon Falcore is 5 months and he's a goofball! However I discovered the color red is really a color that is very intimidating to him so I avoid going near him at all when wearing red.

If your using a purple light please take it out --- any colored bulbs are harmful to the eyes --- it distorts the vision and damages the eyes and can lead to blindness --- dragons need dark and cool to sleep --

What Light Does my Bearded Dragon Need At Night?

Your bearded dragon does not need any light at night. Bearded dragons are diurnal, meaning that they are awake during the day and asleep at night.

Red bulbs and moonlight bulbs are frequently marketed for use with bearded dragons but are not appropriate under any circumstances. According to one of our community experts, contrary to popular belief, dragons can in fact see this light, and it will disturb their sleep. Think about it, bearded dragons have an extra cone in their eyes. At the minimum, this means they have better vision than humans and can see things that we cannot. A good rule to go by is, if you can see it, they definitely can see it.

At night, a ceramic heating element (CHE) is your only option. It will produce heat, but no light. To read more more about heating your bearded dragon terrarium, please refer to our Bearded Dragon Heating Guide.

One of mine sleeps and just chills with both her front legs straight back. Odd behavior IS NORMAL behavior for beardies lol

Hes really trying to make me worry isn't he lol. We got him from PetSmart (we intended to get a ball python but there was no breeders near us. somehow left with a beardie) so I've been extra worried. Tysm!!

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
