Sleeping Habits

Hi,
New beardie parent here!
My beardie is on a sleep schedule (which he adapted to quickly) but he tends to find a new sleeping spot every night. I literally just freaked out because he is sprawled out on the floor. So far, he has slept on his hammock or his wood. When he lays flat on the wood, I'm okay but this scared the crap out of me because he scratched the paper towel and laid flat. After stalking him for a few minutes, he moved.

Am I making something out of nothing here? He's just sleeping?!
The only other thing I can think of is that he is over my TV and wants complete darkness. This beardie has a personality on him!!

Additional facts:

1. I have only had him since Monday so he's getting used to his environment.
2. He's laying in the ambient spot. (Hmmm, maybe he's regulating for the night)
3. I did add a heating pad to the tank today (but it's not where he is).
4. I need to stop making changes to his environment but he's adapting well....
5. He doesn't run from me, I just don't pick him up. I only pet him one day but I spend all day in the room with him, talk to him and good ness he watches my every move. I thank goodness that he doesn't talk because he knows EVERYTHING!
6. He allows me to feed him daily (I know, I know but he also gets his salad on his own)
7. He allows me to give him water every other day.
8. He is pooping regularly- this is the only time he glass surfs- he makes me clean it immediately! We know who runs this house!

It could be that he’s find comfortable spot or like the coolness of just the glass. What is the night time temp? Also, because both of my enclosures are in the living room. When their light go out I drape their cages with a curtain. I brought a pair of room darkening curtains from Walmart and that is what I do to block out the light

However I will say for mines the darker the spot the better at night. I have 2 babies 3mo and 10mo. Rango the oldest free roam during the day but when it starts getting dark he has a corner in my living room that he goes to and bury himself in away from any light. Their lights are on timers though from 830a-830p. Typicall around 8 is when he finds that corner if he’s not in his enclosure.

Thank you for your reply.
The ambient temp is 80 and the cool temp is 70. The temp gun comes today so I should have a more accurate reading. I am going based off the stick on thermometers with the humidity checkers as well.

I have black out curtains...I will use that, I love that suggestion!


I heard him stir twice throughout the night so he was totally fine. He should be waking up soon and I can't wait!!! I think it's totally me-

To stay away from him, I keep ordering stuff for him (ugh!) I am going to order the play pen now so by the time he is comfortable, we can head outside!

I researched and it's exactly what you said...it's finding a comfortable spot like in their natural habitat. I have to remember that he is getting used to his new home.

I’m not sure if you saw my comment on the post with pictures. But I was saying that I’d change out the hooks your using so he doesn’t poke his eye. They have hammock suction cups on Amazon or i would bend it in some more.

No I didn't thank you. I will take care of that right now. I turned them to the side but you are so right, I only thought about the hammock falling off, not her eyes at all - OMG. she lays so close to them too. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
