UVB distance from basking rock

Hi all! I am upgrading to a 75 gallon tank which is about 18 inches high. I have a wide hole cover so my uvb will be sitting on top of the cover. How far below can the basking decor be to where my beardie is getting the uvb he needs? Also, does my beardie sitting atop the rock count in the distance measurement because he is raised up 2+ inches or so than the actual decor pieces height. Thanks!!

What kind of uvb do you have ?

If your gonna put it on the screen your distance would need to be 8-10 inches directly below from the top of the basking decor not the floor- I do recommend inside the tank-- then the distance would be 12-15 inches

One more question, so if I mount the uvb light into the tank which is 18 in height, his basking decor is about 4 inches tall, which would put him about 14 inches away , so he would be good then right?

Yes 12-15 inches
